[RQ] you have returned - Deimos - 06-03-2024 The Sword would go back and forth from the Fangs any day – especially now that it meant he was home, his family was safe, and Halo was sound. The beginning portion of the season had been meant for calm platitudes in the wake of so many storms, but it had turned out like portions of others – detrimental and exhausting. So now they could tend to what was necessary for potential, future plights, and he’d put every proportion of his strength into the shaping and whittling of its efforts. Glancing back at Sah and Luka, knowing the former had a rough time at the tournament, and the latter had been looking to find some purpose in the larger scale of the world, he started off light. [say]“How are you both doing?” [/say] From there, they could press their wake down paths and familiarity, the springs a welcome sight all over again. The plumes rose and fell into gentle, soothing wakes, and Deimos felt a burden shift. [say]“We should look around the perimeter first. See if there has been any damage.”[/say] Time could easily be a factor, and he trusted they’d be able to take care of it. -- [say]This is a RQ/PQ to shore up the structural soundness of the hot springs. Post your characters arriving and start checking out the perimeter! No post order. 1. Deimos 2. Sah 3. Luka [/say] RE: [RQ] you have returned - Sah - 06-14-2024 The hot springs were a welcome sight. When they were done with their work, Sah would need to take a dip. It had been far too long since he'd enjoyed the luxury of a dip. Pad . certainly wouldn't complain The Wild Thunder let out a sigh but smiled softly at Deimos' question, [say]"Alright. How are you?"[/say] He wasn't great, but certainly better than before. People had been surprisingly supportive, and he was grateful for it, even if he didn't feel that he deserved it at times. That in itself was a work in progress as well. He was looking forward to today, however. Spending time with a friend and his son was just what he needed. Having a set goal also helped him focus on and push everything else to the side for now. Giving Luka a squeeze, he gestured for his son to follow him. [say]"Come on. Let's see what we're working with." ~ Sah scopes the perimeter! [/say] RE: [RQ] you have returned - Luka - 06-14-2024 The hot springs are always infinitely more appealing during Deepfrost, and though Luka is far too orderly to be tempted away from his current duty, he unwittingly mimics his father in planning a personal dip before the day is done. Though he eyes Pad as subtly as he can, debating whether he should slip away from his dad instead of posing the idea as an open invite; Luka knows exactly how good Pad is at targeting people with wet-fur-shake-splatter. And it’s always only after they get redressed. Deimos’ check-ins are kind, if eternally unexpected. Luka always privately wonders if they are inspired by duty or reluctant abiding of social norms - at least regarding Luka himself - because his daily life is as constant as the permafrost. And by that he means utterly boring. [say] “Well. No exciting developments on trying new skills.”[/say] Though he’s at least gotten out of Hall and explored a little more. Adventuring isn’t his calling, but perhaps region-specific offerings hold the key to his meandering quarter life crisis. Maybe his calling is becoming a professional surfer - he’d never figure that out in Halo, right? Softening the moment his dad squeezes his shoulder, Luka’s smile emerges readily as he follows instinctually in Sah’s wake, bumping their shoulders and arms in a silent display of affection as they set to work. Luka holds Deimos in great esteem, but he suspects he’ll always feel stilted around anyone outside of his family. [say] “I know the springs are popular, but I didn’t realize how quickly it could get worn down by that alone,”[/say] he points out as they walk along the perimeter, noting small sections of half-crumbled rock, spiderwebbing cracks along the walking path, and the clear markings of preferred routes between pools that had been worn down by countless feet and the chemical effects of stagnant spring water tracked throughout. RE: [RQ] you have returned - Deimos - 06-14-2024 [say]“Happy to be home,”[/say] was Deimos’ abrupt and concise answer; and while it didn’t explain the multitudes of actions inspiring him to yearn for nothing more than endless plains of snow, it would be enough. Much as he wouldn’t pry into Sah ’s alterations or @Luka’ s lack of trying skills (though he did arch a brow at each, allowing a small smile to form in one corner). There were other matters to take care of, regardless, and the hot springs would likely be enough to keep them occupied. [say]“Water can take a toll on anything,”[/say] he noted towards the younger Accepted – because the element was a powerful thing, and capable of damaging rocks, after quite some time. Theirs, however, likely suffered from popularity, as Luka suggested, and the normal wear and tear of the infused incantations. Erosion would play a big factor, and any such cracks and crumbles would permit the water to stretch its potency to new heights. As all three patrolled, they found the same case in each corner. Some rocks had tumbled into deeper edges and would need to be homed again or given different supports. Some had been worn away. Some had seemingly been disregarded by others, and the pathways had suffered for the carelessness. [say]“Looks like we have plenty to do. We can start there,”[/say] jutting his jawline to the furthest corner from them; where stones had fallen in and left a lack of support. [say]“We can replace the rocks or retrieve the ones from the springs.”[/say] -- [say]Time to work! Decide to go in after the rocks in the springs, or find/create others![/say] RE: [RQ] you have returned - Serendipity - 06-14-2024 An ice storm has hit! For the next 3 posts of each participant in the thread, this ice storm will rage. RE: [RQ] you have returned - Luka - 06-20-2024 Oh it’s not for lack of trying, simply a lack of…spark. Or so Luka has been told to look for by the masters he has so far beseeched to introduce him to their trades. Given he has little personal ambition it is a lucky side effect that he is unbothered by the lack of success so far, or he suspects frustration and disappointment would have already started nipping at his heels. Straightforward work is the best substitute for passion in his eyes, so today is quite nice for a break from all the newness he’s been scheduling for himself. Deimos’ little smile is returned, and Luka’s ears remain primed even as he moves alongside his father, heralding the insight about water swiftly. [say]“Which has more of a hand, water or time?”[/say] It comes out philosophical but Deimos - who has come to know him a little better as an individual - will likely swiftly parse the frankness he intends. [say]“I wonder if springs are self-sustaining in isolation.”[/say] An idle comment, but one that takes him down a silent pathway of consideration that occupies him as they make note of areas for improvement. As Deimos directs them, Luka’s attention is drawn to the blizzard that blows in past the mouth of the cavern and his lips twist in a small expression of amusement. It’s no bother to him, they’ll be busy for hours yet. [say]“Better to pull the biggest pieces out for safety reasons I’d think.”[/say] Debris at the bottom of the springs is a tripping hazard at worst and an annoyance at best. Plus, Luka can fish rocks out of water, he can’t help with creating them out of thin air. It takes but a moment to remove his socks and shoes, trusting his dad or Deimos will help dry him off for safety reasons alone before the trek home and wading in without disrobing any further to begin finding the biggest rocks to haul out. RE: [RQ] you have returned - Sah - 06-22-2024 [say]"Sounds good."[/say] To get the job done, they would probably need to use a combination of collected and created rocks. Given that large items crafted from creation magic had an earlier expiration date, the Wild Thunder decided to collect stones. He was just about to get to work when Luka took the opportunity to learn. Sah found himself smiling softly as he listened to him think out loud. Once they were ready to begin, Sah followed the Accepted down to the spring. [say]"Let's do it. Let me know if any are a two-person job."[/say] Taking off his socks and shoes, he stepped in. Using telekinesis and strength, he started to clear out the largest stones. It almost reminded him of doing a reversed puzzle. The weather outside then turned feisty, and Sah cast an appraising eye over his son. Luka seemed alright at the moment, but the Abandoned was ready to step in at any moment if the Accepted started to look concerningly cold. The urge to bundle him up in an extra coat would probably never go away, no matter how old Luka got. [say]~ Sah helps Luka collect rocks.[/say] RE: [RQ] you have returned - Deimos - 06-22-2024 [say]“Depends,”[/say] Deimos offered dryly in return; with half a smirk embedded in the corner of his mouth. If given enough time and measure, most things eroded; the earth altered, shifted, changed. One would only need to look at Halo to see how much it had morphed after the war, and during Starfall’s unfortunate outreach. Water had its own power and capabilities. Then, there were inhabitants themselves…which he believed coincided mostly with the hot springs current issue. [say]“I wonder if it has been due to more people in the area.”[/say] But he didn’t mind patching away any portions; not if the hot springs had become a nestled place for healing measures for Halovians and the world alike; especially with recent advancements. Snorting at the sudden storm, but entirely unbothered by it, Deimos put his head down as well and got to work. Rather than fishing stones out of the springs as Sah and Luka did, he opted to find some nearby. Dusting the snow off of them, he snagged several larger factions that would be more difficult for any individuals to maneuver or slide around. The father and son combination worked well, as Luka’s maneuvers within the water were assisted by Sah (the younger nearly dropped several). Glancing over their current work, the Sword figured grabbing more now would alleviate future work on the other corners. [say]“We can grab a few more, then place them.”[/say] Maybe when the storm had passed as well. -- [say]Grab some more rocks by whatever means![/say] RE: [RQ] you have returned - Sah - 06-27-2024 Sah hummed, [say]"That might be it. I've certainly stopped by before heading home after longer hunts. I imagine others are doing the same."[/say] A moment of peace and quiet for the mind and gentle warmth for sore muscles made the springs a wonderful resting spot. They got to work and the Abandoned had to stomp down the urge to pull Luka out of the water after one too many near drops. What if he dropped one on himself and got hurt? Managing to stop himself from outright hovering, the Wild Thunder settled for simply keeping an eye out in case Luka needed his assistance again. Sah glanced over to nod at Deimos, [say]"Sounds good to me."[/say] They seemed to have an array of larger rocks, so he turned his attention to medium and small ones next. They required less strength, and Sah used his telekinesis to carry the ones that couldn't fit in his already full arms. [say]~ Sah keeps collecting stones with manpower and telekinesis. [/say] RE: [RQ] you have returned - Luka - 07-09-2024 Luka fumbles nearly every rock he touches, but to be fair his hands are slick - and with hot water at that. At least he manages not to crush any of his toes when they sink back into the water, though he can feel his dad's anxious mother-hen stare and it makes him hide a smile by ducking his head. Nodding at the instruction when Deimos returns with his own rocks, Luka uses his feet to seek out any remaining larger debris to fish out before calling it sufficient and clambering out of the waters. It becomes cold rather quickly, but the heat is trapped around the springs with the snowy downfall so it's not nearly as fast as he'd expected. Hunting the last few materials down around the edges of the cavern, he returns with an armful to add to the pile and lifts an eyebrow at Deimos in a silent request for their pile to be deemed sufficient or lacking. - - - Luka retrieves the remaining rocks on the bottom of the spring and then climbs out to gather more just in case. RE: [RQ] you have returned - Deimos - 07-09-2024 Deimos gave a light smile at Sah’s response; for it was good to hear the healing springs were getting ample use. From there, as they were in all agreement, the stones were moved – successful portions either taken away from the waters, or other proponents of the caverns. Nothing broken. Nothing dropped. Nothing even maneuvered the wrong way. The Sword was suspicious at the minor triumph, but let it go for further directions. [say]“All right, we can start placing things.”[/say] Ignoring the storm still, he simply drew his hood up further, already lifting one of the larger rocks to the northern corner. [say]“Sah, can you brace it with earth magic underneath? We want everything fortified and stabilized.” [/say] He would do the same, unfurling the incantations and wares into the ledges and lines, so nothing else would falter and stumble and bumble into the water. -- [say]Round 4 - Start placing rocks![/say] RE: [RQ] you have returned - Luka - 07-10-2024 Luka is quite accustomed to simply being another pair of hands, legs, or eyes, so he doesn't mind that he's effectively useless in this trio. When sandwiched between Sword and Thunder, he doubts anyone wouldn't be. To his credit however he is a hard worker and humble enough to find no task below him, and so he sets to work placing rocks as Deimos requests. Now that he doesn't have water to slow the descent of any that he might fumble, Luka ensures he puts his socks and boots back on so that he doesn't crush his toes if his luck with grabbing rocks continues on a downward trend. He's not sure if either of the other men has healing capabilities, and he isn't keen on finding out today. - - - Luka bob-the-builder brick lays. Except rocks. RE: [RQ] you have returned - Sah - 07-11-2024 Much to Sah's relief, Luka was unharmed after their second round of collection. He hadn't needed to step in once to assist. There was still much work to be done, however, and the Abandoned focused on Deimos' next instructions. The request was simple enough, and Sah channeled his magic with a nod. [say]"Will do."[/say] The earth beneath him shifted, locking further into place against the edge of the spring. He kept his hold active, ready to make adjustments as needed. Sah tried to remember how Deimos once stabilized their stronghold against the void user and attempted to mimic that technique. It had served them well and hopefully he could emulate it. [say]~ Sah uses his earth magic to brace and helps to stack rocks![/say] RE: [RQ] you have returned - Deimos - 07-11-2024 For all their powers and might, the stability simply didn’t hold. Perhaps the storm distracted them. Maybe the ground underneath was far more damaged or difficult than they imagined. For whatever reason, there was more slipping of the rocks and crumbling of the layers underneath. Sighing and removing the rock he’d been striving to maneuver, Deimos inspected the grounds. “We may have tried to do too much at once,” for which he could only take responsibility; believing it had been firm enough to snag at everything else. [say]“We will try again before putting the rocks in – Sah and I can stabilize. Luka, can you check in the water and see if anything is crumbling into there as well?”[/say] Because if so, then they might have a larger problem on their hands. -- [say]Round 5 - Bad rolls! Sah and Deimos will try to stabilize the ground without moving any rocks this time, while Luka checks the pool for any sign of crumbling along other layers. No post order![/say] |
