I wanna fade away with you - Everest - 07-01-2024 As a medical professional as well as a beautiful woman, no doubt Isla could diagnose the early signs of a nosebleed when she saw one, such that no one would have blamed her had she handed Everest a towel as she came out of the changing room instead of merely taking his arm. Indeed the aviator looked as though his knees might buckle (for the second time that evening) upon seeing one of Mateo's outfit choices. [say]"I'm going to sound like a broken record, but wow."[/say] He murmurs softly, as if not With swim shorts also picked out by Mateo (plain black and a bit too short for his tastes, but the botanist had insisted), Everest reached for Isla's hand. There were only a handful of people in the Eye such that given its size, the couple could easily trick themselves into thinking they were alone thanks to the heavy mist that rose up from the water. [say]"Is the temperature okay?"[/say] The water would be, he knew, but their evening would likely have to be cut short if Isla had to keep herself beneath the surface for the entire time. RE: I wanna fade away with you - Isla - 07-01-2024 [say]"Everest, you have seen me in much less than this,"[/say] comes Isla's playful reminder, though she is of course utterly twitterpated by his bashful responses at every turn, busy tying her hair up into a loose bun to keep it out of the water as much as possible. She does take his hand, at least, even if she steps in a touch closer as if to check whether he's going to be able to cope with the temperature of the hot springs given the heat already radiating out of him. [say]"Surprisingly so,"[/say] she assures him, glancing around and feeling nothing of the cold Deepfrost night this close to the steam rising from the water. [say]"This place is beautiful, by the way. I have been to Frey's Breath in The Climb, but this is a completely different environment..."[/say] Drawing him with her, the Remedy is already dipping a toe into the hot water in the shallows, her spaded tail curling in her delight. RE: I wanna fade away with you - Everest - 07-01-2024 [say]"I know, but.."[/say] Ever's eyebrows raise marginally as he looks at her once again, his expression utterly pleading as if at a loss to articulate how it was that yes, evening having seen her in nothing at all, there was something wildly attractive about seeing her in her bathing suit. Having not realized the concern he'd been carrying in his shoulders, as Isla confirms that she won't be turning to stone anytime soon, he relaxes considerably. Trailing behind her, because he's a gentleman and not just for the view, he takes advantage of the way she pauses in the shallows to press his lips softly to the top of one of her shoulders. [say]"The bottom is entirely clear, so once we're a bit away from the outer wall, you can see all the way down to the ocean."[/say] Or, on a day when the ocean was visible, you could. [say]"Oh? I never have."[/say] Taking a few steps forward until the water was around his waist, Ever turned, his fingers tugging against Isla's. [say]"I've never even been to the Climb."[/say] RE: I wanna fade away with you - Isla - 07-01-2024 Bouncing her eyebrows back at him in return, it's with a slightly wicked smile that Isla understands exactly what Ever is trying to convey with only a look, and she eventually lets the subject fade rather than prodding him for a more articulate answer. [say]"It is? Ah, is that why they call this the Eye of the Storm, then?"[/say] Very clever, her tone seems to suggest, as does the dry smile that accompanies it. [say]"I bet it must be breathtaking on a clear day."[/say] What a shame, then (not), that here and now at LongNight, Ever is the more interesting view. And as his lips drop against her shoulder and she's ferried willingly into the deeper, hotter water, the Remedy all but melts against him, the water lapping just above her waist given their height difference. [say]"This was such a good idea,"[/say] she hums. [say]"And I will happily take you to visit The Climb if you like. I wouldn't recommend flying La Verbena there, though."[/say] RE: I wanna fade away with you - Everest - 07-01-2024 [say]"I'm not an expert, but that certainly seems like a good guess."[/say] Having never really spent much time in the Eye, coming only when Mateo wanted a gratis spa day, Ever hadn't then had the mindset to look down and appreciate the world beneath his feet. [say]"We'll just have to see for ourselves. I imagine you can watch the ships as they go by, or see the tide come and go."[/say] As it was, not even the purple haze from Starfall could pierce through the darkness so far out. Ferrying Isla slowly forward until the water is to his chest, Everest pulls on her hand to bring her against him. Resting one of his hands against her lower back as he'd done when they'd danced together at the ball, the aviator shivered slightly despite the heat that had beads of sweat starting to form around his hairline. [say]"That's one of the reasons I'd never gone. As a child, I was told it was too dangerous and once I learned to fly, it was a place I couldn't safely leave the ship."[/say] Of course he knew that ships did go there and had flown those routes a time or two, but never once had he disembarked. [say]"We could tour all the hot springs of Caido."[/say] He suggests, smiling a touch distractedly. RE: I wanna fade away with you - Isla - 07-01-2024 [say]"Mm, what a wonderful excuse to come back again once the sun is up."[/say] Isla winks to him, drifting further into the springs at his behest and letting the heat of the water sink greedily into her bones. It works, too, such that she all but melts into his chest as he draws her closer, gently buffeted by the movement of the water around them. [say]"Mm, it can be dangerous. A lot of the skyships do make drops there nowadays, though, but of course they never stay."[/say] Which is just to say that they'll perhaps have to take one of those larger ships out to The Climb - and anywhere else they want to go, if a hot springs tour is on the table. [say]"Perhaps not Halo,"[/say] she says in a slightly hushed whisper, winking at him. [say]"Unless you'd be so kind as to have me transported back as a statue."[/say] Laughing softly and leaning in further to rest her head against Ever's shoulder, Isla is more than content to stand here in the springs for as long as he likes. RE: I wanna fade away with you - Everest - 07-01-2024 [say]"We've been working on this pulley system to lower people down. The thought was that with them, we could anchor higher up and keep the hulls safe from the heat. Unfortunately the longer the line, the more it sways around and the less safe it is."[/say] It was a problem the aviator had been puzzling over for years now, in truth. [say]"Is this where I say that because you've made me hard in the past, it's only fair I get to do the same to you?"[/say] He whispers crookedly. Taking a few weightless steps backward with Isla held against him, Everest stops as he feels the ridge of a bench against the backs of his thighs. Sinking down with an indulgent sigh, he leans against the rocky ridge of the pool until the water covers his shoulders. [say]"Is there any way around that?"[/say] He asks softly. [say]"The cold in Halo?"[/say] RE: I wanna fade away with you - Isla - 07-01-2024 [say]"Mm, I imagine the line might get hot as well. Depending on the material, it might even catch fire."[/say] Furrowing her brow, Isla considers the conundrum and lets her fingers stroke gently against the aviator's lower back. [say]"I wonder if you could use smaller ships to ferry people across to the larger skyship. They might be easier to proof against the heat, especially with a mage on board..."[/say] This of course, is not Isla's areas of expertise, however, and with Ever ferrying them back towards the edge of the springs, she isn't really thinking about it much beyond that. Instead, sinking weightlessly against the aviator and remaining pressed against his chest as he leans back, Isla is more or less in his lap as he continues. [say]"I think so. Cold proof clothing, or perhaps a charm from Dygra. Honestly, though, I don't even know if I would risk it. There's Deepfrost, and then there's Halo."[/say] The difference between a light rain and a monsoon. RE: I wanna fade away with you - Everest - 07-01-2024 Nodding thoughtfully, Everest shrugs ever so slightly against Isla. [say]"We had thought of something like that. Normally with the runs the goal is to do it with as few crew as possible. Shockingly, aviator is not as sexy of a job as it sounds and we're usually understaffed."[/say] Smaller boats, mages on board, all required more bodies than they currently had. Letting his fingertips rise buoyantly up Isla's back before pulling them down against her sides, Ever did his utmost to stay present in the conversation despite the way the feel of the Remedy's body, barred from his only by hot water and a thin layer of fabric, continually tried to vie for his attention. It was a difficult task, with how his hands yearned to see if their memory of her body was as accurate as he thought, and with the way the rising steam had her cheeks flushed in a way he'd now describe as sensual rather than just pretty. [say]"I suppose if you don't think you're missing out on anything."[/say] Perhaps Isla had already seen the parts of Halo that interested her, or perhaps none of it did to begin with. [say]"I lived there for a season when I was a boy."[/say] He wrinkles his nose slightly at the memory. [say]"I can't say I enjoyed it very much."[/say] RE: I wanna fade away with you - Isla - 07-02-2024 [say]"It isn't?"[/say] Isla raises her eyebrows, mischief in her expression as she peers up at Everest. [say]"You could have fooled me. Then again, I suppose I mustn't compare how sexy a job is to the person doing it."[/say] A long winded way, of course, of telling Ever she thinks he's sexy. As he settles against the bench and his fingers strum along her sides, the Remedy lifts her arms to let them drape around his neck and shoulders, enjoying the warmth rolling from his body as much as the heat of the hotsprings. [say]"I saw it only once, but I was Ascended back then,"[/say] she admits with a shrug of her shoulders about Halo. [say]"I can't say I felt either way about it, so you've probably got a better benchmark. Besides, I'd much rather see other places with you."[/say] Places where they don't have to put on more layers of clothing, preferably. RE: I wanna fade away with you - Everest - 07-02-2024 [say]"Shocking, I know."[/say] He agrees dryly before his head tilts mischievously and his eyes drop bashfully to the water between them. [say]"Truthfully I don't understand it. I don't doubt that there's a good deal of natural beauty in a place like Halo, but why anyone would want to live somewhere where the environment is constantly so hostile, I"ll never understand."[/say] At least, not with the same sort of national pride that all Halovians seem to possess. Quite content to sit a little longer with Isla pressed weightlessly against him, the aviator glanced vaguely over his shoulder as another couple entered into the Eye before disappearing into the thick mists. [say]"Oh? And where would you have us go next?"[/say] He wonders, smiling adoringly at her as his hands continue to add little landmarks and places of interest to his mental map of Isla's body. RE: I wanna fade away with you - Isla - 07-02-2024 [say]"Some people relish a challenge."[/say] Isla grins, before shrugging her shoulders. [say]"Perhaps it's the sort of place you need to grow up in order to understand it. I imagine some families feel protected by the fact that it's so hostile. No environment can compare to the sort of dangers people inflict on each other."[/say] On a day to day basis right up to large-scale war, Isla is quite certain about that. Not wanting to put a downer on their conversation, the Remedy lets her fingers gently card through the back of Ever's hair as the new couple enters the hotsprings and disappears through the mists. [say]"Well, since we've been talking about it, I do think I would like to visit the Climb with you, though perhaps on a larger skyship rather than on La Verbena. After that, I imagine, would depend on whether the void has taken over any of the places worth visiting."[/say] RE: I wanna fade away with you - Everest - 07-02-2024 [say]"That...sounds like it makes a lot of sense."[/say] Nodding thoughtfully, Everest can absolutely imagine the sort of loyalty that comes from living somewhere so remote and so difficult. No doubt pride kept Halovians where they were as much as the isolation did. [say]"I've never really understood that sort of psychology."[/say] He adds, if only to indicate that Isla had a conversational leg up on him. Letting his head lean back slightly so that his neck was resting against a smoothed-out portion of stone, he let his eyes close for a moment as her fingers moved through his hair. Humming out a sigh of pleasure, as he opens them again, his smile is instantly renewed as if surprised all over again to see Isla still wrapped around him. [say]"We could start on one of the ships and then fly down ourselves."[/say] He suggests. [say]"Or depending on your range, we could just leave from the edge of Torchline?"[/say] Having no idea how far a gore crow could comfortably fly, Ever shrugged indicating either option would be fine with him. As for void creatures? [say]"You know, I think maybe there is a bit of bias going on when it comes to the new flora and fauna."[/say] Wrapping one of his hands around her lower back, the aviator lets one slowly slip out of the water to wipe away a bit of condensation that had formed like tears on Isla's cheek. [say]"I've honestly never had an issue with them."[/say] RE: I wanna fade away with you - Isla - 07-02-2024 [say]"It's quite a niche set of circumstances that can lead to those sorts of decisions,"[/say] Isla says, as if Ever's ignorance on the matter is nothing to be surprised or ashamed about. [say]"A few authors have written on the subject, though I can't remember them off the top of my head. It's been a while since I was able to visit a well-stocked library."[/say] Grinning as if catching them managing to successfully nerd out in the middle of a very lovely date, she turns her attention back to the man before her. Smiling in return as his eyes open and spot her, Isla leans into his touch and resists - just - the urge to turn her head and press a kiss to his fingers or his wrist. [say]"I never considered flying in shift,"[/say] she murmurs. [say]"We could always give it a try - make a real trip out of it."[/say] Grinning at the idea of it and settling further in his lap, the Remedy relaxes into the heat of the water. [say]"Oh?"[/say] she says of the void flora and fauna. [say]"I find them quite bitey, myself. Though I'm also surprised Mateo hasn't tried to study any of them."[/say] |
