when you fall on me like night - Isla - 07-03-2024

Isla does indeed meet Ever outside the changing rooms when she's ready, having showered (properly, this time) and fixed her make up and used her fire to keep her warm and dry until she's content that she doesn't look very recently fucked, even if she very much feels it. Regardless, it's a strange yet exhilarating stroll to the White Hart, the Remedy tucked beneath Ever's arm as if to leech the warmth from his side as well as to share her own, her cheeks pink with more than just the cold.

[say]"Have you ever been up close to a luxere?"[/say] she asks him softly as they enter the tavern, the question spurred by the antlers they need to push against to open the doors. [say]"They enjoy singing, I think. Unfortunately my singing voice leaves much to be desired."[/say] Laughing and straightening away from him at last, she glances appreciatively around at the building before her eyes land back on Ever.

[say]"Shall we get a drink to take up to the room with us?"[/say]

RE: when you fall on me like night - Everest - 07-03-2024

Almost too excited to carry on a regular conversation—little bubbles of laughter kept bursting in the back of his throat—Everest did his best to keep Isla tucked safely at his side away from the chill and anything else that might threaten the precious dream he seemed to have found himself in.

[say]"If you consider being trampled by a herd of them as being up close."[/say] The aviator replies with a low laugh, recalling the time he and his best friend had not only nearly been trampled, but then almost devoured by a pack of wolves. Not offering to take Isla's jacket just in case she needed to stay warm a little longer, Ever slips out of his own and drapes it over one arm. [say]"Well if that's the case—"[/say] And honestly, Everest doubted that there was anything that Isla wasn't good at. [say]"I suppose if you ever want to get rid of Ronin, you could just sing at him and see what happens?"[/say] Having had the then-Star prancing after he and Mateo had been a more or less regular occurrence when they'd been growing up.

[say]"There...may or may not already be wine upstairs."[/say] The aviator says with a sly smile. [say]"Both red and white."[/say] He adds with a bashful scrunch of his nose. [say]"Though if you'd like to bring something else..?"[/say]

RE: when you fall on me like night - Isla - 07-03-2024

[say]"I am sure he will be delighted,"[/say] Isla says with a wry laugh, reminding herself to give her best warble at Ronin the next time he's within earshot. She does keep her coat for now, if for no other reason than she's also holding her bag and the spray of colourful flowers poking out of it, and juggling both is a logistical nightmare she'd rather not contend with.

[say]"Whatever did you do to enrage them into a stampede? Oh, did they not like your singing?"[/say] she wonders, smirking and nudging him playfully.

As for the wine - both red and white, because Ever is a very clever man - Isla raises her eyebrows and gestures for him to lead the way. [say]"Everything I want is right here with me,"[/say] she assures him, and wherever he takes them, Isla will be sure to follow close at his heels.

RE: when you fall on me like night - Everest - 07-03-2024

[say]"You tell me, you've heard my singing before."[/say] Ever counters, leaning into her nudge. Sure, he'd been on the verge of heat stroke and also quite high, but it was still a fairly accurate representation of his vocal range, which was to say, perfectly adequate. [say]"Well,"[/say] He begins dramatically. [say]"They were being chased by a pack of wolves. Mateo and I were just walking through the Greatwood. Not only were we nearly knocked over, but then the wolves opted to try their hand at chasing us instead."[/say]

Pausing only to acknowledge her choice, Everest nods before leading them upstairs.

[say]"Mateo had to channel to try and get us out of it, and...well, a large chunk of meat appeared in the air to lure the wolves away."[/say] It's an absurd story now that he thinks about it, but having grown up with Mateo as his best friend, that was just sort of par for the course.

Arriving at their room, Everest clears his throat a touch nervously before pushing the key into the lock and holding the door open for Isla to enter.

Within she'll find a nightgown laid out on the bed, a fire ready to be made within the hearth, and several books next to her bedside table. There's a bottle of white wine chilling on a dresser, with a bottle of red placed nearer to the fireplace. [say]"I wasn't sure if I'd be accompanying you, so.."[/say] He nods to the books. [say]"I wanted you to have a nice evening even if you spent it without me."[/say]

RE: when you fall on me like night - Isla - 07-03-2024

Narrowing her eyes playfully at Everest - because she has heard him sing before, and it was thoroughly charming (had she been falling in love with him then, she wonders?) - Isla's expression melts into something both concerned and amused at the tale he has to tell. Because of course the aviator is fine, given that he's whole and alive before her now, but gods. [say]"I wonder if your parents know half the things you got up to as kids,"[/say] she says instead, smirking and heading up to the room he's prepared.

Only, once again, Everest Hart successfully ties her tongue as he opens the door to reveal a perfectly comfortable space that suits Isla right down to the ground. With her lips softly parted, the Remedy steps into the room and glances back at Ever's explanation, feeling something golden and gentle unravel in her chest as she looks over him. [say]"You..."[/say]

Her bag hits the ground with a soft thump, Isla closing the distance between them with a kiss born of affection instead of lust, her arms looping around him as if to help ferry him properly into the room with her. [say]"I would like to spend the evening with you,"[/say] she whispers against his lips. [say]"I'd like to spend a lot of evenings with you, to be honest."[/say]

RE: when you fall on me like night - Everest - 07-03-2024

[say]"Oh, most certainly not."[/say] Ever says instantly, laughing. [say]"Mateo's parents were distant at best—"[/say] He says as if Remi wasn't one of, if not Isla's best friend and Ronin likely a close acquaintance as well. [say]"And mine..."[/say] How to describe Tobi and Finn...Pursing his lips together, the aviator's eyes glitter a touch mischievously. [say]"..were very involved in keeping Stormbreak running smoothly."[/say] He decides with a small shrug.

Raising his eyebrows, not entirely sure how to interpret Isla's expression or accusation(?) Everest stood in the doorway, waiting patiently and looking vaguely confused. His lips parted as she neared, but it was honestly only as she drew him down into a kiss that he relaxed properly, stepping against her to softly press the door shut with one hand. [say]"I'd be grateful for any evening that you'd have me."[/say] He whispers in agreement. Even if that meant building himself a sky-canoe and commuting every day at the crack of dawn, it would be worth it if it meant even a moment in the Remedy's company.

[say]"Shall I start us a fire?"[/say] If not just for the ambiance, he didn't want to take the risk of anyone (except maybe him) getting hard that night.

RE: when you fall on me like night - Isla - 07-03-2024

Were it not for the effortlessly perfect room Ever had arranged and the thoughtful gestures present in every nook and cranny of it, perhaps Isla would have had more to say about the aviator's childhood antics. Alas, her mind is flooded with the touch of his hands and the warm press of his lips, and gods but it's all she can do not to jump into his arms and steer him towards the bed as he reaches back to click the door shut.

[say]"I'm the one who would be grateful,"[/say] she objects, brushing a thumb across his cheek before glancing towards the fire. [say]"I would like that,"[/say] she says, smiling, though it would be no effort for her to bring the fire to life herself, in truth. But while the aviator contents himself with making her evening more comfortable, Isla is able to slip out of her coat - and her dress - and to slip the nightgown over her head, before padding up next to him to see how it's going.

RE: when you fall on me like night - Everest - 07-03-2024

His cheek dimples beneath her touch, and before she can pull her hand away completely Ever turns his head to press a kiss against the inside of her wrist.

Nodding, the aviator moves to the other side of the room and builds out the shape of a fire that, once lit, should be able to keep burning for a good long while. As Isla appeared at his side, Ever's blue eyes cascaded over her as if he hadn't just seen her naked an hour or so before, such was the slow reverence of his gaze. Breathing in a shivery breath, the aviator smirks to himself before shaking his head. [say]"That was very sneaky of you."[/say] He murmurs dryly, before reaching for a small packet of matches.

[say]"Besides, how do you know that one wasn't meant for me?"[/say]

Striking the match, instead of hold it toward the fire, he instead simply held it between his fingers for Isla to manipulate.

RE: when you fall on me like night - Isla - 07-05-2024

[say]"I can be quite sneaky when I want to be."[/say] Isla smiles cheerfully down at Ever, following his gaze as it roams over her body and feeling her cheeks flush all over again. Gods, given that they had literally fucked in a shower cubicle not an hour before, not to mention that the Remedy is a grown-ass woman and should know better, the aviator always succeeds in making her feel the kind of girlish butterflies she'd thought she'd long left behind.

[say]"Oh, Ever,"[/say] she says, almost apologetically, [say]"this isn't your colour. But if you'd like to try it on I can always let you see for yourself...?"[/say] Already smoothing a hand across her thigh so that the slip is tugged upwards enough to flash a glimpse of lacy underwear, she raises her eyebrows at him questioningly.

But then, of course, he's offering her the match to play with, and Isla sinks down obediently beside him. Reaching out, the fire twists easily from the teardrop flame to form ribbons of gold and orange, flooding into the kindling he's prepared and eagerly starting to eat it up. [say]"There, perfect,"[/say] she murmurs.

RE: when you fall on me like night - Everest - 07-05-2024

[say]"Is that a fact?"[/say] The aviator wonders; for how bold and no-nonsense Isla could be, Ever could absolutely see her being sneaky when she needed to. Now that he was thinking about it, he'd very much like to see that side of her.

[say]"It isn't?"[/say] Looking appropriately crestfallen with his lower lip puckering out, just as he was going to say something about how it was a good thing he had Mateo—and Dahlia—to dress him, the flash of lace across Isla's upper thigh had the words dying instantly on his tongue. [say]"If I say that you're my colour, can I try you on again?"[/say] He wonders, and gods if she wasn't sinking down to help with the fire he might have made a bid to find himself between her thighs once more.

[say]"Amazing."[/say] Turning away from the ribbons of fire, Ever smiled over his shoulder before rolling onto the balls of his feet to stand and offering out a hand to help Isla do the same. [say]"Had you ever had magic before this?"[/say]

RE: when you fall on me like night - Isla - 07-05-2024

[say]"Maybe."[/say] Isla winks, the firelight reflected in her blue eyes. [say]"A sneaky person wouldn't necessarily tell you either way, you understand."[/say] Chuckling, and making sure the fire has properly caught before she releases her hold on it, the Remedy sits back on her knees just in time for Ever's quip to have her flushing properly red, her jaw dropping with a mix of surprise and utter delight. [say]"Everest Hart,"[/say] she hisses to him, clasping his upper arm and leaning in close, [say]"you know very well already that I fit you like a glove."[/say]

Sitting back and reaching for his hand so she might also rise back to her feet, Isla glances back at the dancing flames and shakes her head, smiling almost bashfully. [say]"Never,"[/say] she admits. [say]"Ascended upgrades were as close as I got, but they were nothing like this. Fire magic feels wild, in a way, like something living that's only half tamed. I don't know if any other magics are like that, though."[/say]

RE: when you fall on me like night - Everest - 07-05-2024

[say]"Ah? Ahhhh."[/say] Everest allows his feigned confusion to become wry understanding as he purses his lips and nods. [say]"I have so very much to learn from you."[/say] He mutters like it's some weighty admission, though in reality, not only was it in fact true, but Ever was quite keen to soak up every bit of knowledge the Remedy possessed; sarcastic or otherwise.

Tucking his chin apologetically, the aviator raises his eyebrows slightly. [say]"You can't fault a man for wanting to be certain."[/say]

Having had no prolonged experiences with any of the ascended to draw from and only anecdotal understanding of their upgrades Ever could only nod politely as his mind's eye drew a blank. [say]"I wonder if it's a bit like certain shifts."[/say] The predatory ones, specifically. At least, that's what wild and half-tamed had him thinking of. [say]"Do you like it?"[/say]

Giving her hand a soft squeeze before releasing her fingers in order to pluck up two wine glasses, Ever glanced between the two bottles of wine. [say]"Red, white, or somewhere in between?"[/say]

RE: when you fall on me like night - Isla - 07-05-2024

[say]"I have plenty to learn from you as well,"[/say] Isla counters with a soft smile, though of course her own learnings don't lean so much towards being sneaky or medicine or sex (though, arguably, Ever can absolutely teach her a new trick or two from his plethora of experiences in the brothels). [say]"And I certainly can't fault you for that, no. And they do say that you ought to try something on a few times to be sure."[/say] Do they say that? Do they? Isla neither knows nor cares as long as it keeps the aviator's hands on her.

As he moves to fetch the wine glasses, Isla sinks down onto the edge of the bed, sighing a note of pleasure to find the mattress soft and yielding without being overly so. [say]"I love it,"[/say] she confesses about her magic. [say]"It's the first time I've had something be a part of me like that. The same for the shifts I've discovered since I was an Ancient. They were only experiences I'd had very fleetingly before that."[/say]

Glancing between the two wines, Isla eventually points out the white chilling in a bucket nearby. [say]"It will only get warm otherwise,"[/say] she reasons - and that would really be a crying shame.

RE: when you fall on me like night - Everest - 07-05-2024

[say]"Oh is that so? Good. I was worried that you'd tell me you knew all about flying skyships, playing guitar, and cross-referencing notebooks in 12 different ways."[/say] Everest chuckles, though gods knew why those were the three things he thought most likely Isla might ever want to learn from him.

[say]"You were an Accepted originally, weren't you?"[/say] Most of what Ever knew of Isla came only after she'd taken command of the Hollowed Grounds and all the work she'd done leading up to the war. [say]"I know there is a little less variety, but really it seems like most of the benefits of being a hybrid without the being cursed part."[/say] He says thoughtfully, before pausing. [say]I love you.[/say] Everest thinks towards her, knowing she couldn't hear it, which was perhaps the point he was trying to make in the silence he let stretch between them. Smiling softly as he looked down at the glasses in his hands, he waited for her to make her choice before moving across the room.

[say]"The brilliant doctor Lockwood."[/say] Everest says as she wisely chooses the white, not that he wouldn't have found some reason to compliment had she chosen the red. Pouring them each a healthy glass if only because he didn't want to have to leave her side too soon if she needed a refill, Ever handed the Remedy her glass before sitting down softly next to her on the bed.
