A floral arrangement - Hadama - 08-11-2024

As often as he had been to the Rainbow Road in recent seasons, it was only his second trip to the shrine amidst the colorful stones and steam of the active geysers, and it was the first time he had come alone.

A broad-chested mermanta swam through the shallow waters to the shrine's verge before curling his black-scaled tail beneath him and retrieving his offering from a net pouch at his side: a large sphere of amber, polished by the waves, that held a sleeping seed among the bubbles of its translucent yellow-orange heart.

It was joined by the Wand carved with vines and lilies that was his reason for coming. His hand lingered over it, reluctant to part with the last memento of a lost friend, but Ray had made her wishes clear and he could not let her down. He had needed to guess at which god had created it, but the patterns of nature braided into its length and his own knowledge of his friend had guided him. With his chest tight, Hadama bowed his head in prayer to the god of Nature.

"Frey, I have come to ask a favor. Can the Rae's Lily used to create this Wand be reclaimed?" That the Wand's Healing magic would be lost in the process was something that the mermanta had already accepted.

RE: A floral arrangement - Frey - 08-12-2024

It's a wise guess, Hadama, even if it's still a guess, and Frey's nature aspect answers the call.

Appearing before the shrine cupping the seed trapped in amber, they smile and push their fingers into it, until the golden sap begins to melt once more, and the seed begins to grow and thrive.

[say]"Yes,"[/say] they say, carefully planting the seedling into some soft dirt that has conveniently appeared nearby. [say]"It is not very often that someone seeks to unmake an item like this."[/say] A wand capable of healing, imbued with purity and nature? One might do a lot with something like it.

[say]"But since you have asked."[/say]

With a snap of their fingers and a sound like when you break something in those Lego videogames falling rock, the wand shatters back into its base components.

Frey has reduced the Healer's Wand into the original ingredients gathered and turned in during At long last

An Efas herb

A sentient vine

Pebbles from the Stonesong

Rae's Lilies (rare): Purest white and veined with turquoise and gold, these lilies may only be found along the edges of the Frey's Breath hot springs. Rumoured to contain all the healing power of the springs and more, they are a mythical find indeed.

Rae's Lily will be added to Hadama's profile as an item.

It was the sound of Hadama's heart cracking as the wand came apart. Not breaking. But a fracture line split through him as one of his last mementos of his friend shattered into leaves and stones on the altar beneath his eyes.

Leaves and stones and the shining white petals of a Lily that was suddenly the most in-demand flower in all of Caido. He reached out to cradle the flower carefully in his large hands and bowed his head to the herald god of Nature. "Thank you, Frey," he rumbled quietly. The flower was tucked carefully into a padded box he had brought to protect it from the sea. Then he gathered the other items that had gone into the wand's creation, tucking them gently into a separate pouch to save. They might have lost their blessed magic, but they still had sentimental value to the mermanta.

He bowed deeply from the water and then retreated from the shrine to be alone with his thoughts. He needed time to swim with his reawakened loss. And then he had a delivery to make.
