red wine supernova - Flora - 08-20-2024 They were so close to finishing these stupid RQs that Flora could almost taste it. In actuality what Flora was tasting was the combination of gin and salted chips she was snacking on while everyone milled and gathered in preparation. Having put out a small table with drinks and things to nibble on as an early bribe, the queen waggled her fingers at her fellow Torchers as they arrived, before gesturing to the spread with a grin. Two carts nearby were already loaded with the stones that she, Hadama, and Kaiden had gathered. This being the third time around, both Melita and Jack were old hat at creating the ring required, and while it wasn't necessarily the most difficult of tasks to understand, Flora thought she'd give everyone a quick overview given that her plan was to split the group into two. Final RQ task! Please post your chars arriving! 1. 2. Flora 3. 4. Jack 5. Melita RE: red wine supernova - Hadama - 08-20-2024 Hadama was quietly curious about how the ring requirement usually went, given that he and Flora had previously split the gathering-and-placing tasks evenly between them. He arrived with nothing but his usual items, a working knife at his hip, and a small bag on his back with snacks for later if the activity took more than a few hours. The King gave a small bow to his Queen, the crinkling at the corners of his eyes as familiar as a smile to her by now, and moved to investigate the chips and gin with professional interest that included a taste test. He nodded his approval of both as he settled in to wait the arrival of the others. "Tomorrow," he murmured to Flora in the meantime. "We can go to Aumakua." And be as free of the Void as they could reasonably expect to be with Starfall still squatting in their ocean. Hadama arrives with everything on his profile, a knife, some snacks, and quiet optimism! RE: red wine supernova - Melita - 08-20-2024 Well, this could get interesting. Enough to intrigue and entertain the Cheshire thoughts beginning to rampage through her mind; perhaps ones where Aurelia and Jack beat each other senseless and they could all watch or something. Grabbing one of the snacks laden nearby, she arched her brow towards Flora, perhaps wondering what the whole plan was here – because it would become very clear with terms and sides and differences laden amidst, even for something as simple as extending out rocks. Angling her gaze towards Hadama and giving him a brief nod for the moment, she rolled and shrugged her shoulders, getting ready for whatever escalated. Or she shit-stirred. Same difference. [say]“Ready,”[/say] she noted, holding up some chips for emphasis. RE: red wine supernova - Aurelia - 08-20-2024 Aurelia arrived with a purposeful stride, her worn boots sinking into the soft sand with each step. Her gaze, keen and unwavering, swept across the assembled company, acknowledging each with a subtle nod or a flicker of warmth in her emerald eyes. Yet, when it fell upon Jack, a veil of cool indifference descended. She would work alongside him, yes, for the sake of Torchline. But the days of seeking his approval, of yearning for his friendship, were over. Jack's anger - and anyone else's, for that matter, though understandable, held no power over her now. She had journeyed too far, climbed too many mountains, to be swayed by the winds of resentment. With a nod of greeting to the others, Aurelia reached for a chip, its salty crunch a welcome contrast to the simple fare she had subsisted on during her years away. She savored the simple pleasure. [say]"Ready when you are,"[/say] she declared, meeting Flora's gaze, her voice steady and resolute. RE: red wine supernova - Jack - 08-21-2024 Blah blah blah - if you're still thinking about him, you're still seeking his approval, Besides, she'll find it hard to hold the gaze of a man who has yet to arrive - and when he does, it's with hair still wet from a swim in the ocean and his faded linen shirt half buttoned, feet bare and his boots in one hand as he nods at the group assembled. He doesn't apologise for being late, because he isn't sorry; instead Jack selects a small glass of gin from the tables (or directly from Flora's hands, wherever it happens to be) and smoothly knocks it back, raising the empty in a casual cheers. [say]"To the last time we've gotta do this bullshit,"[/say] he toasts. Which is as close to a ready when you are as it gets, for Jack. RE: red wine supernova - Flora - 08-22-2024 [say]"Don't jinx it."[/say] Flora chuckles, her eyes widening playing at [say]"Okay, one more time and then we'll be done with this bullshit."[/say] She declared brightly. [say]"I figure it'll be faster to split up into two teams, so...do that."[/say] Like picking sides in highschool gym glass, Flora let various alliances (or lack thereof) play out as they would. It might have seemed unnecessarily dramatic, she could have just broken them up herself, but as A few NPCs began to congregate, milling about the two wagons in roughly equal camps while waiting for the Main Characters to make their choices. No posting order. Choose your teams >.> RE: red wine supernova - Melita - 08-22-2024 Her gaze became squinty, narrowed golden slits as she took in the blatant Jack and Flora flirtation and tried not to make retching sounds. Aurelia’s appearance marked a potential bout of something, but the midst was out of her feeble calculating range, so after stuffing a few more chips in her mouth, she sauntered towards the edges of the group, listening to the Queen dictate instructions. Ohhhhhh team picking, mm? A very Cheshire grin flickered over her face, contemplating mischief and upheaval. Hadama would keep things calm, which she wasn’t in the mood for. Twiddling her fingers together behind her back, not unlike some contemplating cartoon villain, the demigod declared her choices. [say]“Aurelia and Jack can come with me.”[/say] “Can” making it sound like an option – as she batted her eyes at both with an air of innocence. RE: red wine supernova - Hadama - 08-22-2024 Hadama gave a warm nod to Melita and Aurelia received a welcoming tilt to his head when she arrived. He sipped genteely at his gin with stoic serenity as he noted Aurelia's shift in expression when it came to Jack, however. The damp captain received a cordial nod from the Tidebreaker as well, though the two hadn't interacted much since the last election. The owner of the Ark had kept his head down and his nose clean so far as the King knew, however, and he could appreciate that in a Torcher. His eyes twinkled merrily at Flora's admonition and he gave her a small toast of agreement before setting his glass aside to listen to the plan. He was, generally, content to wait for everyone else to make their choices, but at Melita's suggestion he sent his fellow demigod a subtly questioning look. Especially when she looked so innocent about making it. Hmm. Emerald eyes sought out Flora's next and he raised a brow in silent question but he looked back at the group and nodded. "I will go with Flora." Admittedly, he was rather curious to see what Melita had in mind. Hadama offers to go with Flora! RE: red wine supernova - Aurelia - 08-22-2024 While the others exuded an air of practiced familiarity, their conversations peppered with references to past quests and shared experiences, she stood on the periphery, a newcomer to this particular dance. The specifics of the task at hand remained a mystery to her. [say]"Sure,"[/say] Aurelia replied to the Honeybee with a willing enough tone. She fell into step beside Melita, her keen eyes observing the subtle nuances of the redhead's demeanor. There was a glint of something else in those innocently batting eyes. Aurelia could easily decipher the underlying message: Melita was up to something. Yet, she felt no resentment or suspicion. The other's motives, whatever they might be, were secondary to the shared purpose that had brought them together today. Aurelia's stance was one of quiet resolve, her arms folded across her chest, her expression a mask of attentive neutrality. She was here to help, to contribute her strength and skills. The specifics of the task, the division of labor, these were mere details to be sorted out. RE: red wine supernova - Jack - 08-23-2024 Head down and nose clean as far as [say]"Let me guess - now it's time to haul around all these rocks and place them in a neat little circle around the coast?"[/say] Call it a wild guess (or two PQs of this shit that he's had to do) but Jack would bet money on this being their next task. [say]"You ain't able to shift into like... a dragon now, or anythin' good at pullin' carts?"[/say] he asks Mel. RE: red wine supernova - Flora - 08-23-2024 [say]"I'll tell you all about it."[/say] Flora murmurs under her breath as the groups are divided, grinning at [say]"Wow Jack, how did you know?"[/say] The queen sasses, rolling her eyes at the captain before nodding her head. [say]"We gathered more than enough so there's no need to be too precious about them.."[/say] This is said mostly to Melita, who, while not aboard the Ark with its cannons, would probably find some way of keeping her group entertained with a few extra stones. [say]"Team Ark can do the Port, the Rainbow Road, and Aumakua. Hadama and I will take the longer stretch of the coast, and the Miana Pool."[/say] Assuming there'd be no argument, Flora waggles her fingers at Team Ark before turning to Hadama. [say]"You don't have any shifts that could help with this, do you?"[/say] She wonders, having overheard Jack. If not she and the Tidebreaker were strong enough to pull the handles of their little cart on their own (as would Melita, given her strength). [say]"Okay so,"[/say] Flora whispers as she and Hadama set off, before going into a dramatic retelling of Aurelia's emergence after having been gone for five years and how she'd been received by Jack. Round 1: Get ! Figure out how to best to pull your carts. Team Ark is heading East, starting at the Port. Team Leadership is heading West starting with the Coast. RE: red wine supernova - Aurelia - 08-23-2024 Aurelia shot a look at Melita. Jack wanted beasts of burden? Well, tigers weren't exactly known for pulling weight, but hell, they were strong enough to drag down a water buffalo. Aurelia figured she could manage a damn cart full of rocks. Without a word, she let the shift take her. One moment she was Aurelia, the next, a Siberian tiger stood in her place, muscles rippling beneath her striped fur. She approached the front of the cart and turned her head, green eyes gleaming with amusement. She fixed her gaze on Melita and Jack. The unspoken message was clear: Well, what are you waiting for? Hitch me up. A low growl rumbled in her chest. RE: red wine supernova - Melita - 08-23-2024 Melita’s eyes widened at Jack and Flora, and then she laughed. [say]“Not yet!”[/say] The yet conveyed a certain level of ominous qualities too – because ohohoho what could she have up her sleeve for the future? How could she terrorize the Captain with it? Still a long ways off though, so there they went, intending to gather carts and lug stones. She preferred the Ark to this particular angle, but eh, they’d make it work somehow. Like Aurelia becoming a god damned tiger. [say]“Neat!” [/say]She shouted, because it was, and she truly did begin tying and hitching the hybrid up as if this was all going to fit together nicely. [say]“You could load the rocks?”[/say] She offered to Jack, and then she supposed they’d see how it all clambered together. -- Melita thinks this is awesome and hitches Aurelia to the cart. RE: red wine supernova - Hadama - 08-23-2024 Hadama's expression was calm and controlled as he tilted his chin subtly at Flora's promise, but his mind was keenly intrigued about the local gossip. He kept a quiet eye on Team Ark before they went their separate ways, observing the interpersonal byplays until his attention was drawn back to his own responsibilities. "If we loaded them into a boat, I could turn into a hippocampus and pull it," he offered his co-ruler after a moment of deep consideration. "But nothing for land." Alas. He was perfectly willing to put his back into the task, however, and to start pulling the cart with his muscled arms as he listened with interest to the tale and what similarities and differences it had to Aurelia's own words. Knowing Flora as he did, he gave the Queen a brief wink. "It will go faster if one of us pulls while the other places stones." Not that it mattered who finished first, right? Hadama starts pulling the cart with basic brawn! |
