Please don't flake on me - Elizabeth - 08-21-2024

Honestly, even though she knew the gods didn't like her (since that's what everyone told her), Elizabeth had never actually tried praying at a shrine before. It just seemed pointless. However, after her recent experiences with Void creatures attacking her, it seemed like a good idea to boost her abilities a little. And if a god was able to help, that's where she'd go.

Stepping into the recess of the shrine, Elizabeth knelt next to the altar, her eyes scanning the surroundings. It didn't amount to much more than a plethora of scattered offerings and nubs of burnt-out candles. Rubbing her hands against the side of her cloak, she used the static to generate a jolt of electricity to light her own candle. She then reached a hand into her pocket, removing her own addition to the shrine. A handcrafted glass snowflake. Her voice filtered up gently in the empty space. [say]"Safrin. We mortals are a poor imitation of your image, frozen snowflakes with fleeting beauty that melts in spring. Yet, like this glass snowflake, you sparkle and shine eternally, never smudging or dimming."[/say] Placing the offering on the mantel, she dipped her head. [say]"Please accept this as a reminder of your everlasting youth and beauty."[/say]

Sitting back on her feet, she looked up with a sweet smile. [say]"If you see fit to bless me with your presence, I would like to humbly ask for your assistance in obtaining an item to enhance my magic. With your help, I hope to use it to make the world a better place."[/say] Whether that was helping people work through their problems, destroying Void, or making pretty visuals, Elizabeth was ready to do her part. She just hoped Safrin agreed.

Elizabeth is praying to Safrin for an item to heighten her magic!

Regional Score bonus: +7 in all shrine visits, drops, PQ+s, KQs, etc. (You must post this at the bottom of any post where a +7 should be included)

RE: Please don't flake on me - Random Event - 08-22-2024

Spirits can be fickle and downright cruel, and no one knows that better than Abandoned who seem to attract them like wasps to fresh meat.

Descending upon the young woman like a maelstrom, they encircle her; creatures made of frost and teeth bound together by vicious hatred and malevolence. They pull at her hair, blow out her candles, and shatter the delicate glass snowflake she'd so carefully laid out for the lady of the stars.

Freezing her eyelashes, their screams rise until the sound seems to attach itself to the abandoned's psyche in a way she'll find extremely hard to shake.

Elizabeth has been cursed! For her next 3 threads, she'll hear a loud ringing in her ears and feel constantly cold.

She may not have been expecting a response, but the chilling invasion of the spirits was a horror come to life. Their screams were the first warning, a piercing sound that reached deep into her ears even as she covered them with hands and cloth. Next, the darkness took on a new life as light and warmth vanished from her and her surroundings. It leeched from her body painfully, ripping it from her heart and causing an ache to settle in her bones. Finally, her gasp was sharp, shredding her throat as claws snagged at her hair, clothing, and skin like sharpened icicles. Elizabeth attempted to protect her body, but the spirits found every opening; pulling, tearing

Her own scream welled up in her chest, yet it was drowned out by the chorus of shrill howls taking root in her mind. She couldn't focus on anything other than the freezing that settled in her bones and the deafening ring that slowly overpowered every other sense. By the time the spirits had tired with tormenting her, Elizabeth lay curled on the ground, blanketed in darkness. Her breathing was shallow and ragged, laced in pain that wracked her body into uncontrollable shivers. She didn't notice their departure as much an instinctual desire to escape the space finally prompted her to rise from the floor. Unsurprisingly, the cold and ringing linger, a reminder of her failure to entice Safrin's attention.
