Innocence Lost [OPEN] - Emmett - 02-05-2019 Emmett had never investigated the world of alcohol too much. Reminded him too much of his pa's bad days, where he would sink into a dark hole of booze and misery and not come out until someone had paid the price (usually by getting screamed at). But he'd had a long day carting around shovelfuls of dirt for the new plot and he wanted to have a break somewhere he would be able to just be himself for a while. He wasn't quite sure what one asked for at a bar, but he confidently asked for beer and got something in a mug that looked about right, so he was fine with that. The people here...a lot of them were new, probably Outlanders. They probably had some great stories, he reckoned. But he didn't want to bother anyone too much. They might think him a stupid farm boy, asking dumb questions. He sat at the end of the bar and listened out for conversations, snippets that were interesting. Emmett took a sip of the beer and wrinkled up his nose at the taste, but determinedly took another swig. If he was going to take over the farm, he had to become a real man soon, and men didn't stop drinking because it was a bit strong. RE: Innocence Lost [OPEN] - Arthur - 02-06-2019
RE: Innocence Lost [OPEN] - Emmett - 02-06-2019 Emmett did not have to wait long for conversation to find him in the form of an older man, smiling as he held a drink that wafted a sweet scent up to his nostrils. He was not used to sweets, having been brought up on hardy vegetables and bland stews, so the honey smelled too strong, sickly even. Still, he made no comment on this, just smiled and took the hand to shake. [say]"Both, actually, Arthur. I'm just about tryina get my head around this drinkin' thing."[/say] He said, looking down into his beer and swishing it about in the mug. [say]"Is that a bit o' booze you've got there? It smells mighty odd."[/say] What he was trying to say was unclear, but Emmett was more trying to keep a momentum in the conversation by continuing to talk. [say]"Up on the farm we only have a few spirits my Pa buys in. He says they're the best thing to drink, but they smell like something you'd wash a cow down in to me."[/say] |
