Food was a good strategy, but hunger was probably the only thing that would drive the lion back and allow Remi to come forward. Now that these pathetic offerings had been given, the lion knew that it could remain at least a few hours longer than it previously might have. And that was good. Very good. With a snarl the creature immediately devoured the tiny creatures thrown into the mud. The lion cared little for the state of them, easily tearing through their pale pelts to the meagre scraps of meat within.
