Aisha liked to think she was a hard worker, and that other's viewed her as such. She was confident in the work she did, in how she did it and the effort she put in. She didn't ask for validation as anything more than a coy joke, a pattern of speech and a presentation of cockiness and ambition. But still there was always that hint of uncertainty, that nagging feeling of was it enough, am I enough, that was soothed by affirmation, endorsement.
