The stranger nodded at Soh's request, but the girl wasn't sure she'd heard; she seemed to be very absorbed in the task at hand. Soh wasn't sure if magic just took that much concentration, or if she was preoccupied with whatever was in the hole, but either way, Soh kept quiet, rocking back on her heels to get out of the way.
Then, suddenly, the creature is freed, and the stranger is panicking, or something, and Soh could only watch, wide-eyed, as the woman fell backwards, babbling something that Soh didn't quite make out, lifting a hand to her head, and making a whining noise that sounded vaguely inhuman. Concerned and frightened, Soh didn't even look at the creature in the woman's lap at first, instead focusing on the stranger. "H-hey," she said softly, her hands fluttering over the stranger as though afraid to touch her for fear of making things worse. "What can I do? Are you okay?"
