Octavius
Octavius is thrown off by how intently Koa attacks; he expected at least a little bit of a warm-up before getting into serious sparring. This surprise leaves an opening for Koa, and Octavius winces slightly at the impact. It's a solid hit, but Octavius chooses to pass it off as luck. Koa's intensity stokes the flames of competition within Octavius; his cocky remarks simply add more fuel to the fire. Where Octavius was once feeling lighthearted about this spar, he is now thoroughly committed to winning.
This renewed motivation to win shows as Octavius sweeps his sword and strikes Koa in the meat of his thigh. Immediately afterwards, he steps back with a flourish of his sword, the corners of his mouth tilted upwards. "I'm not so sure that I will be the one with a bruised ego at the end of this fight. If this sword was steel, that hit would have brought you down."
He's beginning to breathe hard, chest heaving, feeling invigorated by the fight. A part of him wishes they were using steel, but he does realize that it would be quite unfair to Koa. Not to mention the danger it would pose to both of them. It takes absolute precision to strike with steel without drawing blood.
