He and Belial, a following, trailing peryton with a zeal for actions and screeches, eventually descended, curling and contorting over the framework of eternal conflagrations with little misgivings. Only when the beast landed did he truly shift back into human form, considering the inferno for a moment, offering a nod of respect, before finding a log close by. Sitting down, stretching out his long legs, he produced a piece of parchment from within his pockets, and charcoal to follow. So while his companion sniffed and inspected, and the other safely grazing outside the labyrinthine walls, Deimos began to meticulously sketch out details of his next creation.

DEIMOS Deimos had glimpsed the Eye of Fire before; enticed and encouraged by its flames, in the midst of flight with another Attuned. Now, instead of meandering and winding his way through the maze, he committed to sanctions of wings and plumage again – the eagle extending the sienna hues and colorations over the wintry haze, following plumes and vestiges of smoke. Tracing after its filaments gave more breathtaking movements and motions, occasions for distractions, or for a mind to whirl through parameters and possibilities during the colder refrains. Permitted to his elements; alone on a crisp Deepfrost day, wound into the fibers of fire and ice, with no need for another baptism. He’d had enough in the depths and fathoms of battle, heartache, and loss; this one would only be for contemplation and action. He and Belial, a following, trailing peryton with a zeal for actions and screeches, eventually descended, curling and contorting over the framework of eternal conflagrations with little misgivings. DEIMOS Belial had heard Cordelia long before she made an appearance from the labyrinth’s jaws, and since they’d been working on signaling without screeching or raising further alarm, the peryton had channeled his findings with the same zeal and fervor. The information had passed silently from peryton to Sword, and some range of curiosity of his own began to take fold as he scattered a few more marks down upon the paper. Surveying it once or twice for good measure, he only ceased when he could hear her panting, wavering approach; glancing upwards with a faint bout of amusement scattered along his features. Very much like he was trying not to laugh. “Sketching,” by way of answering her inquiry, as if it was perfectly normal to fly out into the middle of a warren, beside a magically tended fire, in the middle of the day. Unbothered by her haste, he held his paper aloft, to show the illustrated quiver he’d been working on, with little details scrawled along the bottom. A vague tilt of his head, and the arch and inclination of his brow, indicated his inquiry was soon to follow. “Did you need something?” As was most often the case when others sought him out. DEIMOS “For Noah,” and therein he turned his attention back to the design, implementing a few antlers along the sides – details to impart within his mind before he went into contorting the incantations. “Figured he might as well receive something decent for a change,” especially with Korbin’s death, with Halo’s twists and turns, with eventuality of other oncoming seasons. With war brimming closer, looming, swifter and keener still. Even in the lull, he could still feel it pressing down along his spine, an ancient and barbaric old friend. “It should be able to make the arrows contain fire.” By way of further explanation, and then naught else, stretching out his limbs again, head rising, eyes following lines of the nearby flames before tilting his attention back to her. That she required nothing from him was something of a relief, and his shoulders eased that particular burden away. He smirked at the indication she’d strived to catch up. “What else do you need for your arrowheads?” There’d be plenty of stone about somewhere, perhaps even within the maze itself. DEIMOS “We will see,” he promised and assured with a light smile, before setting to work. Like so many times before, he raised his hands in front of him, slightly below his chest, and the gilded flow between palms began to form. Slow, steady, carved out of his mind’s eye, the incantations unfurled and conformed in each declaration, in each controlled precision, carving out its own sanctions, presiding in the wake of immersed flame. Defined by the stretch of antlers, and then bear paws upon the sides, the quiver took shape efficiently, quickly, so in the span of several breaths, the tool was there in his hands. As if this was all very normal, he turned back to her without a word, pondering over the necessities. “I may have some grouse feathers leftover, if you want to use those.” They weren’t any bright, vivid hues; clearly intending camouflage until Belial had found them outright. While he worked on the straps of the quiver, ensuring they were in working order, he didn’t expect the inquiry. Brows furrowing, a sigh managed to rattle its way through his lungs, pondering, wondering, if he was falling back into old habits again. “Yes. And I am usually willing.” To lend his magic, his power, his strength back into the fold. To shield. To protect. To defend. And there’d been other instances where he’d simply been used; thoughts wandering to LongNight provisions last year – weapons made and no gratitude from a Wraith who used every moment to play the victim. Or to Nate, hands out in some avaricious zeal, defiance emerging when he couldn’t get what he wanted immediately. “But I am trying to be better about it.” Boundaries. No chains, no tethers, no lines, no working himself into exhaustion. -- Deimos has made: Fire Quiver | A magical quiver that turns any arrow placed within into a flaming projectile that ignites upon impact. DEIMOS Placing finishing touches and testing the quality of the property, he hadn’t known he was being so closely watched and monitored. Only when the task was completed, and the gilded fringes faded away from his palms, did he glance upward – tilting his head as she admitted her plan. “That is likely to be very appreciated.” Raven feathers for a friend lost in another bizarre way; to have made it through the invasion, to escape unscathed, to arrive at Noah’s side, only to be lost in the depths of Torchline. A bizarre interlude, and hopefully in time they’d discover what truly transpired. If there was some other venue of vehemence and vengeance to be taken. At the acceptance of the other feathers though, he nodded, gaze going to Belial. On a silent connection and instruction, the peryton hastened off, likely to snag at the chosen feathers, and whatever else distracted him in the interim. Her response gave him pause, an accord of agreement pervading through Attuned bonds, unaware if she could feel them in human form. Deimos could list a fair amount of entitled individuals who’d believed themselves worthy of receiving gifts or tokens or anything from him with naught else. “No, it is not. But that is why I am working on it.” A soft smile followed, before rolling the quiver back and forth, flicking it from hand to hand. “Is this your first Deepfrost outside of Halo?” He was something solid

DEIMOS He smiled at the compliment, ducking his head down to glance over the efforts once more. “Thank you.” These manifestations had never been in his repertoire before Caido – it had always been death and destruction, calamity and chaos. To have these pursuits and angles was nearly a relief – orchestrating whatever could flicker and rally into his mind, rather than the constant chain of demolition. Because sometimes it was nice to remember he was more than devastation. There was a nearly imperceptible shift in his brow at Cordelia’s blush – stifling another laugh somewhere, lodging it into his chest so it didn’t muffle out into the air. It didn’t have a time or place given the circumstances and discussion, but certainly something noted and noticed. “I am certain being there for him is recognized and acknowledged, even if he cannot say it right now.” Too many others things going on, too many other forces and hardships working against the way they’d strived to build and coincide with the changing tides. The grin disappeared for a moment as Belial returned – a loud alarm and screech instigating the Sword’s soft sigh. The peryton took his time winding his way down, as if amused to drag out the process, but by the time he’d landed, the feathers were laden at Cordelia’s feet with an uproarious declaration. While Deimos sought not to roll his eyes at the companion’s antics once more, he tilted his head again at Cordelia’s thoughts. There were a few moments where he could’ve speculated on LongNight and how other regions were far worse off; but cast that aside. “Hopefully we can find a way to change things again.” He was something solid

DEIMOS Ignorant of her giddiness, or the reason behind it, the Sword merely permitted the smile to remain, gently placing the quiver into his bag of holding for safekeeping. Something else to be protected and presided over, at least only for a little while longer, before handing it to the Sentinel. “You are doing enough,” came as a bout of reassurance, a rumble through his chest as he glanced downward at Belial. Noah was stoic and reserved; and likely only allowed as much as they’d been giving – choosing to wade amongst and amidst his emotions in bits and pieces. Losing Halo. Losing Korbin. Being out here, not amidst a home he’d loved, cherished, and protected. And the unknown grating away at them; striving to find ways to finagle back into mountain regions, and ensure it was safe from those who’d cause it harm. The peryton nodded at the gratitude, offering another obnoxious noise, before he meandered off in a flurry of wings, returning to his post. The inquiry hastened something else though, and he straightened, spine threatening to become taut and straight again in the errant frustration; nearly tangible. He didn’t choke the words out, but sighed, grumbled, rumbled in the possibilities of their failure again and again and again. “Keep trying.” Determination, whether emboldened or foolish, was a lacquered wake upon the depths of his brow, in the narrowed speculation of his gaze, flickering off – steadying somewhere in the midst of the maze. “We have time.” But it felt limited; as if hours were fleeting, no longer as infinite as they’d been before. “We are taking the more difficult route,” the one lacking in violence, as god damned tempting as it was. “And we cannot expect it to be easy.” He paused momentarily, the fixation drawing in the scheming once more. "Do you find it odd that no other lands appear to have this issue? That the Ascended have not launched assaults elsewhere?" He was something solid
