He hadn't even been a mediocre one, truth be told. He couldn't focus when he was sitting still, and he was always fidgeting and looking out the window, wanting to be outside doing things instead of cooped up inside reading about them.
Which made it all the weirder to walk into the big library in Stormbreak now. His scowl was permanently in place as he shuffled in, shoulders hunched and hands jammed into the pockets of his leather flight jacket. His fingers tapped ferociously against his hip as he stalked through the shelves, too embarrassed to ask for help but having no clue where to even start looking for books on how to dance.
Boreal padded behind him, broad blunt-muzzled head swinging from side to side in cheerful curiosity. The dragon was the color of glacier ice, pale and built like a muscular mastiff, though she stood easily as tall as a Dane. Her back was as high as Tal's hip as he walked beside her, his pale eyes a startling contrast to his messy dark hair and weathered brown skin.
He might have been cute in a scruffy sort of way if he hadn't looked so awkwardly out of place in the hallowed halls of learning.
