Even if her sigh had been mournful, he didn’t want this to be a sad parting. Inevitably, it would be, but he was close and near and would be. A different parting than the ones he’s made before. This time… This time he’s sure of it. So he breaks the kiss to press his lips featherlight against her jaw and her nose. “I love you Maea.” He reiterates so she doesn’t forget, trying to keep the reality of what he’s doing to her from hitting so hard.
