The wall was arranged quite nicely, and a triumphant little grin curled around her face as they continued running. She certainly didn’t stop until they were well out of bounds, and she couldn’t hear the bizarre scrape of its shitty, creepy little claws anymore. “Whatever the fuck that was,” she murmured. “Good job.”
Giving herself a moment to breathe, she eventually remembered the gilded ring in her palm, and stretched it out for both of them to peruse and study. It was an intriguing little sight, and while she was disappointed there wasn’t enough to go around for the Evergreen and Honeybee to share equally, she had no qualms in passing it over. “It’s yours, if you want it,” she admitted, and for once it was granted without a selfish bone in her body; even if the existence of avarice stoked somewhere in the ambitions of heart. This was pure and simple. “You did most of the work anyway.”
If it had been up to Melita alone, the thing would probably be ten feet tall by now.
