Responsibility and determination went hand in hand with the Sword, even long before moments spent in Caido. As the Reaper, he’d been much the same in his carnivorous intentions to ensure the Basin was safe and sound – and while here he was not as haunted or demanding, old habits died hard. The hard-fought spirit of his steadfast and stalwart aims and purposes remained chiseled along bones and blood; and since they’d placed so much effort within the mountainous region, especially before the war, it would be stupefying to not persist in much the same stead. His machinations were far too conniving for that anyway – to merely give in, to scatter away.Arching his brow as Alys made her sentiments on leadership abundantly clear, he did spare another laugh. “Evie, Noah, and I share that burden, at least.” And he wouldn’t have even contemplated taking up the role without the former. Theirs was a careful balance, regardless.
That wasn’t to say they took it all on themselves, however, for everyone in Halo had a role to play. “But a citizen’s insight is always appreciated,” jutting his jawline in her direction – as much to say she was always welcome to her opinions, necessities, and thoughts about input along the kingdom.
