She waited for the rebuttal as she stared out over the horizon, fingers beginning to tap on the wood. That it wasn’t a big deal. That it was nothing to fuss over. But she knew the truth of it, what stirred in her memories, what slunk and scarred well past the embers and fire scorching in her form. For herself, and many others, who’d endured long enough to hightail it from the Grounds as soon as they could.
So her head swung when the Captain acknowledged the trauma, blinking stupidly as if she’d heard wrong. Baffled into silence, she listened as he strived to find a parallel. Only thereafter did she give anything else a voice. “I heard about that. I think Sunjata and Nate got themselves involved.” Snorting, the Honeybee shook her head. “No major casualties?”
