The guild's headquarters was under construction so now was a perfect time to add his shop addition. Edmund had decided that in order to help cover guild costs, opening a shop in front would be smart. It would be a place for guild members to sell things that they'd discovered on their adventures but didn't wish to keep.

The Ancient had sent out notices and he hoped that help would come. A new shop in Torchline usually gathered at least a few spare hands. At least, that's what his aunt Ray had told him when she spoke about her own shop's creation and renovation.

All Edmund had to do now was wait and hope.

Welcome to Edmund's Adventurer profession PQ! We're setting up a shop in front of the Adventurer's Guild where guild members can sell things that they've collected. Please post your character arriving.

FOX

Having made a circuit through Torchline and to the Climb once, Fox is trying to make a habit of, you know, leaving the little bubble of the Hollowed Grounds. He's been making use of the skyports despite getting horrendously travel sick, though that means he's looking a little green around the gills as he walks Haulani's sunny streets.

At the sight of someone - an Ancient, it looks like? - lingering outside what looks like it wants to be a shop one day, the hunter lets curiosity get the better of him and approaches on careful feet. He's never met another of his race before, and the young man looks, well, not lost exactly, but not comfortable either.

"Hey," he murmurs. "Everything okay? Do you need a hand?"

Koa is helpful. It's one of his particular skills.

So when he sees a notice board post asking for help the young man cannot help but oblige, especially given that the notice is for something called Adventurer's Guild. Not that Koa is much of an adventurer, but a boy can dream. And/or live vicariously through those who are braver than him.

All of which to say, Koa arrives in work boots and a Dragoon uniform, ready to be of help, Pipsqueak draped languidly over his shoulders like a feather boa. He stops before the disrepaired shop with a smile and a salute, trying very hard not to stare at the horns that curl from heads of the Ancient duo. "Morning- my companion Pip and I saw your notice, and thought we might lend a hand. Or claw." His smile widens, eyes crinkling with amusement at his own joke. "Name's Koa Carpenter of the Dragoons. What're we working with today?"

Splat's edges blurred and Edmunds' tail flicked in excitement as people did in fact arrive. The first is a fellow Ancient, one he'd yet to meet. "Hi. I'm trying to renovate the shop here for the Adventurer's Guild and could use a hand if you have the time?" He held out a hand to his kin, "I'm Edmund, good to meet you."

Then Koa arrives and Edmund offers his hand to him as well, "Edmund. Thank you for coming, Koa." The Ancient gently batted his own companion away from Pipsqueak, "Hi Pip, probably best to avoid Splat." The darkling flickered and then took on the vague shape of a small, misty, dragon before returning to his usual vague sphere.

Turning to the building, Edmund started handing out directions. "The building itself is in decent shape thankfully due to the main guildhall renovations going on. But we need to get the shop part cleaned and some things replaced. There're tools, new windows, and a new door by the entrance."

~

Round 1! No post order and Edmund will take what's left.

1. Replace the broken windows with the new ones.
2. Replace the door with the new wooden one.
3. Repair the back wall where there's a hole in the bricks.

"An Adventurer's Guild? Sounds... well, you know." Adventurous. With a dry smile, he clasps the other Ancient's hand and nods a warm greeting to him. "Fox - same here." And with the arrival of another man, he introduces himself afresh to Koa before glancing back at Edmund for instruction.

Feeling more comfortable working with something that's already there, Fox volunteers to repair the back wall and collects his tools, bricks and mortar and heads into the shop. The smell of fresh wood and building materials lays heavy on the air, giving the impression of new beginnings, and the Ancient settles on his knees to begin.

Clearing away the broken pieces of brick that can't be salvaged, he carefully begins to repair the hole in the wall, trying to imitate the brickwork already in place.

"Pleasure's all ours. Sorry about the noodle." Indeed, Pip's response to Splat is, perhaps predictably, bite. Or at least to try to bite - darklings seem like things that would be rather good at writing out of mouths, and besides, both young men are quickly trying to separate their respective companions.

Introductions complete (Hi, Fox), Koa listens with boyish eagerness to the instructions, ready to get to work. And true to form, when the tasks are doled out our young meathead opts for the one that seems like it involves the heaviest lifting, his chin jerked toward the maligned door. "I think I can handle that - I'm a Carpenter, after all," the boy jokes rather lamely, groan-inducing quasi-pun underlined by a shit-eating grin.

So he sets about work, taking screwdrivers to old hinges and measuring out where new ones will have to take their place.

Koa opts to replace the door.

Pleasantries were exchanged and trio began to work. It starts out wonderfully. Fox fixed the wall without any trouble whatsoever and even found the time to patch a few other small cracks. What was once a mildly damaged building is now one sturdy enough to withstand even the strongest winds. Way to go Fox!

Koa had similar success. The door that Koa installed is gorgeous and swings silently. It's imposing and has a dramatic air fitting for an adventuring guild.

Now of course Edmund is where things went wrong. Maybe it's because he's used to working with stone and blood. Maybe it's just bad luck. But those windows he needed to install? That doesn't happen. Upon picking up the first one, he accidently knocked it into the wall, and it shattered. Not only that but a shard sliced his palm open, making him hiss. "Ow." Splat hovered anxiously the entire time but upon realizing that the wound wasn't fatal, went and ate the glass shards. Thanks Splat.

The younger Ancient tended to his injuries as the trio regrouped, wrapping a bandage tight across the wound. "Alright. I'm going to deal with the windows...again. Here's what else needs to be done. Good job so far."

Round 2! No posting order!
1. Edmund needs to actually do his task now and get the windows handled.
2. The inside of the shop needs to be swept of dust.
3. There's some old broken furniture that needs to be removed.

Feeling proud of both his own and Koa's efforts right up until the sound of shattering glass interrupts them, Fox whips around and winces on Edmund's behalf. "Are you alright?" he asks his fellow Ancient, straightening up from his work and stepping back to survey it. At least the interior of the shop actually has four walls and a door now, even if the windows are still pending.

Once Edmund has wrapped his hand and given out his next orders, Fox is already reaching for a broom to try and sweep the place clean - right out of the lovely new doorway, thanks Koa! "It only seems fair," he says with a smirk as he gets going, "since I probably caused a lot of this dust doing the brickwork."

Damn, he's good. Or so he thinks as he surveys his success, hands on his hips and boyish pride radiating off him in waves. Fox seems to be doing well as well, and though Edmund's injury earns a wince of sympathy from the young Dragoon, he doesn't jump in - the other Ancient seems to have things relatively in hand.

It's only logical that Koa move from fixing doors to dragging furniture: gotta find an excuse to show off that pretty physique. Generally speaking, the young man is much better at heavy lifting than actual carpentry; he can only hope that today's luck with the latter will translate into roaring success for the former.

Edmund nodded, "I'm alright. Thanks." Though the blood did make him consider just where he should include a blood sacrifice to Mother. It seemed necessary to spill some blood in her name in any project done by an Ancient. The trio got back to work with greater success this time around.

Fox had no trouble battle the dust and cobwebs and the floor is soon clean. Koa clears out the old furniture in record time and even found a few valuable antiques that could be used to decorate later. There was even a gorgeous orate dagger that the dragoon could keep if he wanted. Edmund had similar luck, The windows are finally replaced. And not only that, apparently there was a mix up in his order and in the pile of window he found a gorgeous arch-shaped and stained-glass mural of mountains. Happily surprised, the younger Ancient installed it right above the door.

"Perfect." Edmund's tail curled as he regarded their work so far. Just as he spoke, a series of carts arrived with a furniture deliver. "Let's get this all inside."

Somewhat relieved that Edmund has managed to successfully install the windows without further injury (and that he hasn't made a fool of himself doing something as simple as sweeping), Fox smiles to see the stained glass over Koa's doorway. "It's already starting to come together," he comments, half to himself, before heeding Edmund's next instructions.

Nodding and glancing around, Fox can already scout a few good places for tables thanks to his time in the shop thus far, and so he heads outside to fetch them. With any luck they'll all fit snugly in the places he has in mind, ready to be set up with goods to sell. First things first, though. He's got to carry them inside.

It's quick and quiet work, the three men seemingly content to focus on labor rather than chatter. Which, admittedly, has quick-tongued Koa feeling a bit out of place- but that's OK. The boy needs to learn that he can't just charm his way through every encounter.

Sometimes, he has to work for it.

Like by installing shelves. Pleased as punch with his success removing furniture (and sporting a dashing new dagger as a result), Koa is content to leave the task of adding it back in to the other two. Instead he takes up the shelving unit, emboldened by his doorframe success and ready to put the title of 'Carpenter' to this ultimate test.

Edmund sent Fox a small smile as commented on their progress, "It is." The trio got back to work, and things thankfully continued to go smoothly. Fox was able to get all of the tables in without injury and successfully placed them where he desired. The older Ancient had a good eye for this kind of thing it seemed. The tables alone already made this look more like a shop.

Koa managed to get all of the shelves installed, though one did take two attempts to secure. But it seemed to be sticking now at least. Edmund had been a bit intimidated to try and bring the heavy front desk inside. Bu the surprised himself and was able to carry it in and place it as he wished with relative ease. It seemed like he'd underestimated his own strength.

Edmund eyed the shop as Splat vibrated in the air with apparent glee. "This looks great already. Now we just need to add a few decorations."

It takes a few attempts, but Koa manages to get the shelves securely adhered to the wall - a resounding success in his book, given his historic and somewhat ironic lack of carpentry skill. Satisfied with his work, the young man steps back with hands on his hips, glancing around to see how the other members of their labor party are doing. "Seems like things are really coming together!" he declares with a grin.

Decoration is all that's left, and here the orderly young Dragoon feels his skills can shine. He opts for hanging artifacts, admiring each one as they go onto shelves and walls. "So now that you have a guild, you gonna do any expeditions? Maybe some that will need Dragoon guards?" he adds with wiggled brows, Pip rising on his shoulder and puffing out her chest.
