With there being no money in Caido, sometimes Adam found it hard to justify his thievery. But what else was he meant to do? His skills were in sneaking, grabbing, running, charming; all things that together benefitted a thief and not many honourable career paths.
So, he stole.
Not anything massively important or valuable, and only from people he deemed to be 'assholes' - because he saw them be cruel, or he just didn't like the way they dressed (it was not a fair nor consistent measure). His house slowly became a vault for nicknacks and trinkets, bits and pieces that he had taken from stalls and held in his hands like holy symbols, until he had gotten home and thrown them on the pile.
Eventually, he began to have a thought. That perhaps he could actually try and trade something, actually have something fairly. Perhaps, then, he'd be able to enjoy the stealing more, because it would be exciting.
Or....something like that. Truthfully, he was bored.
So he was at the bank of the Stonesong, where he had heard precious stones could be found. Carefully, sat cross-legged, he picked up rocks and examined them - if they looked promising, into the satchel they went. If they looked boring, he would try and skip them across the water. Coffee slept nearby, curled into a tight loop, uninterested in his master's new hobby.
