Things are happening.

Seiji fears soon he will be unable to ignore them, but thus far ignoring them is all he can do. He feels increasingly out of place in the Hollowed Grounds, watching factions form and vie for power. Watching something like a rudimentary civilization form. He cannot say he feels any obligation — to any side. His only loyalties are to his personal friends. To Kiada most of all, and he has seen so little of her. Always in and out, busy with some thing or another. They ought to sit and talk, he thinks. Decide on what it is they are doing here. Or if he ought to separate us into myself and Kiada in terms of interests. Perhaps she no longer needs the house. Perhaps she has become entangled with some group. He only wants to know.

So his thoughts are preoccupied. He has seen the public form go up. He has read the announcement. He has witnessed a handful of scraggly men write their names and go. None look very happy about it. As for Seiji, himself... He does not feel particularly beholden to whoever Queen Zariah is. He feels only worried — worried more fighting will break out. Worried something terrible will happen. She does not seem a very kind person. He suspects he may need to leave, sooner or later. But if the only place to go is the Wildwood, home of the fae...

Today, he only goes so far as the Atheneum. He feels safe here, in the relative cool. Surrounded by dust and the smell of books. It is within the books he goes searching, for some kind of lesson on history. On the way things were run before. He does not know very much of queens or kings. They are a distant concept in his mind, something he does not think he has ever paid homage to. He supposes he ought to learn, before things get very bad. If they get very bad. But he has seen to looks of discontent on the street. And anyway, it's a better way to spend his time than in the empty house, or baking under the sun.
