The peaceful morning took a sudden turn, and a frown drew Vai's brows together as Remi didn't emerge from the trees to come and greet her. Swearing colourfully, she shrugged off her bow and quiver and set them down as she arrived beside the wounded hawk, drawing a knife from her boot and ignoring the worry and fear that coiled in the pit of her stomach. "Shit. Fuck. Okay, Remi, I need you to keep as still as you can," she murmured, sounding a little out of breath from the exertion.
