Eli
Eli gave a sharp nod. It was to start then with little ceremony or thunderous applause. Good. He raised the baton like club over his right shoulder, letting part of the shaft rest upon himself as his left arm moved out in front of him. He slowly advanced on Are, eyes narrowing as he tried to predict the man's movements. The shield didn't help in that sense... he wasn't used to fighting people with actual shields, they were also an ancient tool that had long since passed for him, yet he moved forward.
He just needed to get in close, around the shield, find an opening to exploit. For all the strength Are looked like he possessed, Eli was sure he wasn't or had not been a soldier of any kind, he looked uncertain, slightly rigid in stance as if he'd not spent long doing this.
Eli took the first move, feigning an attack to probe Are as his right arm extending outwards, the baton moving with it, from a side angle before suddenly changing course and moving back to its original position before making contact; here was hoping Are's shield would raise, obscuring a bit of his view, allowing Eli to see a bit more of how Are was going to play this out.
