But despite Kiads's newness to the form, the pumpkin does not stand a chance: she is still a Harpy with a killer's instinct, still more of a huntress than anything Amalia could ever seek to be.
The leopardess steps out of the brush as Kiada begins to crush her prey, cocking her head in silent amusement at the blatant decimation of the gourd. She watches the smaller feline cover herself in pumpkin guts with a resigned sort of humor: there will be nothing left to cook with now, but at least the cub is having fun.
Another rustle from nearby catches Amalia's ear: another pumpkin has come to investigate, unaware of the danger it inches toward. In an instant the leopardess is ready, coiled tightly as a spring, her body rippling with anticipation. In a flash the girl is on the gourd, pressing it beneath her paws and growling laughter as it attempts to flee.
