Between her Lady and what will be Ludo’s small favor, the woman who was once very much alone (half of her own doing, admittedly) is slowly realizing that she really isn’t. She may have to play multiple parts and come to terms that her responsibilities will often be in conflict with each other, but she is not alone.
She reverently takes the offered arm and the words to heart. She must learn to soften her edges. She must guide instead of shove, she must ask instead of berate. There is a time for fierceness and there is a time for understanding. Wessex gives in and allows herself to trust that there is a plan, that not knowing means she isn’t culpable, and that’s a good thing.
When sated, the child kisses her mother’s wrist in love and silently departs, drawing the bookcase closed when the Goddess takes her leave. They must ready themselves - again.
