The sky shined a light pink and vibrant orange as the sun was completing its journey beneath the horizon.  It would be less than an hour before nightfall completely overtook the continent, but Renaud had found himself unable to wait any longer.  Planting these roses had been the only goal he could find since arriving on Caido, and he was working for that goal with a tireless fervor.  Having no need to find food or drink or sleep could lead to quite a boring existence, especially for one used to the life of a soldier during wartime.  So Renaud's spirits were high as he crunched through the snow toward the location of his arrival to Caido for the first time since that day.  A light snowfall had begun, speckling Renaud with beautiful flakes that rested on his clothes and his skin.  Flakes fell as well upon the rose in his right hand, failing entirely to obscure its beauty.

He had left his third rose in his dwelling at Loren's, unsure of where he would be taking it.  He assumed some instinct would strike him when the time was right.  Would the gods, old or new, open communication with him once he had completed this task?  Time would tell, but something within him whispered that it would be vital for him to speak with the gods or with an avatar of the gods with haste.  Perhaps when he met another Ascended he would be able to discover just why that was.

The spire stood defiant against the white snow, even in its partially ruined state.  Renaud had no knowledge of the excursion and battle that had taken place within the tower, but the evidence of its existence was plain.  He stopped some distance from the spire, dropped to an unfeeling knee in the snow, and began to dig with ungloved hands.  Admittedly, the soldier felt that his newfound resistance to the elements was cool as shit.  He consciously avoided gloves or even a spade because of how exciting he found it to be able to not need them.  He probably would've gone without boots if he knew more about the plant and animal life of Caido.  As far as he knew he could step on some plant that contained a toxic poison or something of that nature.  So - boots yes, gloves no.

Renaud forced a hole through the snow and began to dig up the soil, unaware and uncaring of any strangers around him.
