LOREN
The look Wessex sent Loren’s way was far from friendly, but also couldn’t compare to some of the glares he’d received over the years. Besides, she’d have to do a lot more than that to make him feel worse about himself than he already did. The queen set a quick pace, one that Loren had trouble keeping up with. Still, he obviously wasn’t going to complain, given the circumstances.
Her question, however, caught him off guard: he was expecting admonishments, not concern, even if said concern came out rather gruffly. ”I’m fine.” His voice was quiet, without any trace of any noticeable emotion. If she happened to glance back, all she’d see was that he carefully kept his gaze trained to the forest floor, not wanting to chance meeting her gaze.

they’re split up and always torn.
