what do you do
They came together quickly, efficiently, a press of time and necessity whittling away at their efforts, and with too many notions, too many ruminations, too many possibilities riding on these entangled, ominous variables, he was humbled, grateful, and content with those who’d appeared. “You are welcome,” he extended back to Remi, because the alchemist and King had enough on their plates, on their shoulders, and Deimos, and the rest of the company residing along these boundaries, would gladly take more weight, more efforts; it was how they’d survived. It was a necessity, to pick up and brush one another off; a sentiment he’d learned along the way.

He didn’t expect Jigano to stand before him though, proffering assistance and some snow moss previously gathered. Bewildered and stupefied for a moment, the beast stood stock still, striving to meander through calculations and endeavors, before proceeding in politeness, in more reticent tactics, but a show of good faith in a hesitant smile. “Thank you,” and he nodded, taking note of the plants, attempting to gauge how much more they’d need. It was a finite material, but maybe, if other efforts couldn’t be salvaged or reached, the moss no longer as plentiful, he or Remi could concoct something.

The only stranger in his midst came sauntering forth, out of the shadows, completely foreign and unknown. The General was baffled, momentarily, by the wink extended to him, looking and glancing over his shoulder, presuming it was meant for someone else. As for the complimentary efforts, he arched a brow, but shrugged, “Most appreciated,” on another, subtler, smaller nod was brandished, before his eyes caught on Amalia, on Kiada, on boughs and branches of family and cherished, devoted things; bigger, broader, boyish grins for them, grateful, indebted, and obliged all over again. There was an intense relief enfolded immediately in his veins at their presence - any trepidation hastened away.

And then they were all assembled – ready and eager and waiting – and the beast began, a sense of urgency pushing him forward, in the comfort and composition of so many that he knew and understood, that comprehended what they had to achieve. His voice boomed – not hesitant, not exuberant, but commanding; this wasn’t a Basin meeting, where he waited for the doom and damnation to strike. This was to keep some of the world safe. “Thank you for coming to assist in preparing the Guild for Long Night.” He grabbed hold of a list he’d been keeping in his pocket, dragging it out before him. “We have a number of tasks to get through, and I will take any and all suggestions for making them better.” Because this was for sanctuaries and sanctums, and despite his latest dealings with Loren, he could listen; open for comprehension and experiences some had dealt with, some had found, some had discovered from last year’s chaos and bedlam. “To start, we need to ensure sounds are muffled. Jigano has already brought us some snow moss, but we will likely need a great deal more.” Especially with the size of the building, and the potential for the amount of people to be contained within. He raised his bag of holding, offering it to anyone who was willing to go roam, fetch, and bring the plants back. There were other sacks available too. “I will be reinforcing windows, walls, and doors, and would like someone to assist.” While he’d already brought some lumber, he could always create more, and it’d be completed that much quicker. “We should also have some black cloth hanging over windows,” and he tilted his head to a pile of fabric he’d already created for this purpose.

“Let us know what you would like to do, and we can get started. If you need any tools at all, please come see Remi or myself.” What might’ve been the beginning of a Cheshire grin aimed towards the alchemist flickered, then he watched and waited; presuming they were capable of yielding to their preferred endeavors and efforts. There was still more to come, but with these many proficient, competent individuals, the General had no doubts they’d accomplish their goals.

--

Pick what you would like to do and let’s get to work!

- Two for gathering snow moss (feel free to use Deimos’ bag of holding or any sacks available)
- Two for putting black cloth along windows
- One for assisting Deimos in reinforcing windows, walls, and doors
with the remains?
