For a meager few minutes, they flew unassaulted. The air was crisp and the world was a canvas of nothingness, but it felt good to fly, even if the reason for their trip was the lifeless body clutched coldly against Remi's chest. But as with all things, it didn't last.
As the glow of the luxere that surrounded the guild softly bled into view, so too did the return of the monsters. Around them like an itch Remi couldn't quite scratch they invaded his large ears, his nose, his eyes. He wished he could be smaller with feathers that covered ever inch of his body, but he wasn't. They bit at his back, at the tender pads of his paws already bleeding from their last round of assaults. Clogging his nose he was forced to open his mouth to breathe, which only invited more and more of them inside.
I need the light The alchemist growled mentally, his reserves all but deteriorated, his frustration now seeping through the cracks. Diving down towards the circle of luxere the manticore all but crash-landed among them; ears pinned against his skull, a snarl on his face, and Cera's body in his talons. Knowing this shift—and his presence—would be enough to worry the herd, Remi immediately shifted back. Holding Cera in his arms he moved towards the door, kicking at it with his foot and mentally calling for those inside to answer.
We are back—Remi and Deimos—open the door. We have him.
