She bandages him up, and he grits his teeth slightly against the pressure of the fabric as it shifts over muscles and burns. “Thank you.” Grateful, but quiet, uncertain until his comment is taken a bit too far and his eyes flash toward her with his slight amount of confusion.
“It does mean something.” He replies at first, waiting, letting himself hold his tongue until she’s finished. She makes great points, but at the same time he realizes she’s not understanding. Shifting the supplies in his hands and the shirt he still hasn’t quite put on, he adjusts the bandage away from the still healing tattoo.
“It’s not to hush you. It’s not to say you’re too childish. It’s just…” He trails off, the exasperation in between his thoughts and throbbing head. “You’ve done so many accomplishments. But you’re also very emotional. It’s not, don’t take it as being a bad thing because it’s not. It’s just that it can be a lot.” A certain memory comes to mind, of a raised voice in his fear and her tears.
He reaches for her, to pull her away from the sleeping children as her voice raises in pitch and volume, though she’s still aware the boys are sleeping. “You always have so much weight on your shoulders Phoebe and you don’t get the chance to work through it. You seek out Frey for guidance, which is fine, but at the same time you need to figure out how to work it out yourself.” He pauses, biting down on his lip. “You have respect. I just think that sometimes you overreact.” There, he’s said it. He knows she won’t take it well, but he’s not going to leave until she understands. “You gave a small amount less of a shit while blighted and I think maybe you could learn something from that.”
