Amun’s eyebrows rose as she admitted she wasn’t from Caido. ”Ah! A fellow Outlander.” Giving her an easy grin, the Ascended winked at her. ”I should’ve recognized that two such fine specimens of humanity couldn’t possibly be from this world.” He chuckled, the sound dark and low. As she commented that his actions were kind, he smirked. ”Well, yes and no. I’m hoping to use them to trade passage to this new world.” His voice came out cheerfully, and he flashed her a cheerful smile.
At the introduction, the potter sketched a shallow bow. ”Amun Arlun, at your service.” As she started prodding at the ground, he backed off. Then his eyes drifted to the squash by her side. ”Who’s your friend?” He jerked his chin at the gourd. When she slung the staff off her pack, his gaze snapped back to her and his eyes widened. They stayed wide as she bashed at the ground. ”Well, I can’t say I mind anyone who knows how to use their shaft, spitfire.” He waggled his eyebrows at her as he knelt by the hole she’d created in the ground with the force of her blow.
Seemed good to him, so he picked a seed from the pouch and then dropped it in there and covered it. Straightening up, he stepped over the hole to an empty part of the plot he’d selected. ”Know anything about planting? I’m a sailor, so about as farm from a landlubbing farmer as it’s possible to be.” His tone indicated how little he was bothered by that fact.
