We were isolated and there was no opportunity to speak to any other nations. In a community this small, we more or less… took care of each other. I helped raise Amalia when her mother died, believe it or not.” It’s the only thing keeping them from going at each other now, she supposes. And she also felt the effects of hatred and ostracization, of her own doing, of course.
