Peter didn’t have to wait often, considering that honey badgers were as much endurance hunters as hyenas were. Still, Loren sent along appreciation, both for the other man’s kind actions and for simply being there.

I guess I didn't know if you wanted to be around me for a variety of reasons. Although the honey badger tried not to let leak through their bond how much that bothered him, he was pretty sure the hyena picked up on some of it.
The woods were a welcome distraction. Like the adopted Launceleyn, the summoner kept his nose to the ground. Soon enough, though, he found his eyes drifting to the trees above, searching them for any sign of prey.
