It should come as no surprise to anyone that there aren’t any New God shrines outside of the Ground. The Old Gods had plenty of time to find her places of worship and eradicate them, she imagines. Any Ascended outside the barrier would have withered away or weakened to an immobile state without Her sustenance, so there isn’t even anyone to seek out and ask. No secret underground shrines. No one to point the way. This current state of affairs for her Lady simply won’t do. For multiple reasons.
This is the only shrine she’s been able to find in the Citadel and it sets her slightly on edge. If it weren’t for the commandment to explore everywhere and a childish urge to give the heralds a giant fuck you, Wessex wouldn’t be here. But since she is… and since she’s come so far since the last time they tried to hurt her…
Goddess, she knows she could be playing with fire. Literally. Brash and bold as the demi-god may be, she likes to think she isn’t stupid enough to tempt their wrath in their faces. They do not have the benevolence of her Lady, they wouldn’t spare her. She lingers too long in indecision, taunts to Ludo curling in her belly, begging to be released. A demonstration for the lady of the stars, who exists most in the dark of night - can she see how fast, how strong the Ascended is then?
“Lleisi,” she whispers into the candlelight, “My Lady.” Her arms stretch wide, taking the ornate shrine in to her prayer. “I will make you a shrine in every part of Caido and everyone will know the love your children have for you. We’ll find the mageglass. We’ll make it better than this.” A subtle dig at the overblown finery of this altar - for now, it’s about all she dares as she sidles back towards the door.
