Upon finishing her designated bestowal, the youth hadn’t been very proud of her work. All in all, it’d been completed, but her first work at knitting left a lot to be desired. Staring down at the bundle in her arms, portions of the sleeves far longer than the other, the collar wobbly and not uniform, the dark navy hue not as bright or emboldened as she’d liked, she could’ve surveyed the entire thing and done away with it. But it wasn’t for her, which made it all the more difficult. She smothered a few wayward sighs, raised her chin, and folded it to the best of her ability, hoping a nicer presentation might give way to Peter’s potential disappointment. Maybe that was what she dreaded the most – this poor person she didn’t even know, saddled with her pathetic, ignorant efforts.
But the day already loomed, and the gift exchange was underway, so she buckled down, committed to her part. The youth’s heart beat with a sensation of apprehension, and Fangorn was a loving soul, bouncing and bounding beside her, their connection aimed to be a comforting balance – but the girl’s hands were aflutter when she sought out the man doomed to receive her gift (and the thought loomed about him refusing it too, causing more consternation). She forced a smile along her features, generous and wide, when she approached, and hoped to all the gods he didn’t notice how much she’d struggled, or that he appreciated how much she’d still tried (did that matter?). “Hello
