The white sheep of the family
Thankfully, Loren knew Abasi well enough to recognize the undertaker’s incredibly subtle flirting. Rather than responding verbally, the summoner just drew the other man for another, slightly less chaste kiss. When the Launceleyn broke it off, he smiled almost a little cheekily.
It turned into a full on grin at Abasi's comment. "Well, I've managed to weasel my way out of my encounters with the gods so far. So they can try." It wouldn't be nearly as funny in just a short while, but for now Loren allowed himself to imagine the life the two of them might have together. It was a beautiful thing, full of life and light.
So, after they kissed again, his response to the undertaker's words was simple. "Me too." The hope was fully earnest now, and suffused the Launceleyn's whole being.
Too bad the future would prove far shorter than either of them had reckoned with.
