Bowing his head further, he closed his eyes. "If I'm wrong, though, about all of this, then I'm wrong. I've failed, and worse, I've wasted your time. I'm sorry." At this point, he spoke in a defeated tone, and what little fight he'd had left in him had gone away. "And I deserve whatever punishment you see fit to give."
