Turns out, the answer to Amalia's unspoken question was: not well. Indeed, as the owlalia swooped down, even with the warning he got from her cry (silent hunter his ass), he was entirely unprepared for the speed and ferocity of the attack. So her talons were more than capable of raking across his unprotected head, leaving gashes that oozed fluid.
