Torchline really was a treasure. Warm, sunny, right on the ocean, it was like a dream. Really, it was too bad he couldn’t actually enjoy the best parts of it. Not that he hadn’t enjoyed his time there. On the contrary, getting to explore through the new area had been a joy, a vacation from undercurrent of drama in his life lately. Though, he had taken some of that drama with him.
Nate had asked his drama to accompany him on a little exploration. He’d heard about some smugglers caves, winding underground, and thought it would make a good place to spend the daylight hours. Not alone though. That was just a recipe for disaster.
He waited in the mouth of one of the caves, avoiding the bright sun and picking at the walls. Dreams of what they might find in the caves swirled in his head, pirate treasure and magic items and whatever else people smuggled around in the fantasy land he’d ended up in.
