The bird that swoops in is honestly a little bit of a surprise, but it takes only a second for Nate to realize it’s not just any bird. A second is long enough for the bird, Sunjata, to land on his shoulder. Nate is a little wary of the talons on bare skin, but it’s not like he could feel it if something happened, so instead of worrying, he just grins up at the other. ”Polly want a cracker?” He laughed, reaching up to rescue his hair from the beak, and maybe sneak his fingers through the feathers before they were gone, the attuned back in his more familiar shape.
”Depends what you consider long.” Nate answers drily, hands on his hips as he looks back towards the mouth of the cave, sun streaming in. ”I’ve been here since sunrise, so...” But he shrugs and shakes his head. It’s to be expected, running around a beach in the middle of summer.
Turning back to the attuned, Nate lets the easy grin take over his mouth again. ”You heard anything about these?” He tips his head deeper into the cave, stepping deeper into the darkness. Nate thought it was more fun to go into things blind, and didn’t have anything other than his own experiences to guide them through.
