As Amalia shifted and flames flickered up from her, Amun’s eyes widened in alarm. Screaming in terror, he flung himself off her back. Twisting in midair, he tried to kick at her side, hoping to send her staggering aside.
Assuming she didn’t prevent him from slamming into the ground, he’d roll in a panic to hopefully snuff out any flames. Then he would frantically scramble backwards across the floor. Turning to watch her warily, he would attempt to put as much distance between the two of them as possible.
Although he didn’t need to breathe, he found himself panting instinctively as fear coursed through him.
