the flood
Another pulse of pain as Sunjata manages to shove Deimos off. But again, it doesn’t last — not as the General surges again and a large striped paw is felt on his throat. He has enough breath within him to growl again, a reversing sound that vibrates against the pressure to his windpipe and he pins his ears back again, steel eyes sharp and narrowed on the man that holds him down.
And the words Deimos says sound so familiar to ones he’s heard before, uttered in Korofi and thick with an accent of home that he snarls against it. His teeth bare, but there’s nothing to be done now. At least perhaps his father would have been proud of the destruction he’d brought here. Though it makes Sunjata regret it all the more.
Deimos releases him and gives him a simple command that has him shuddering slightly as he moves to try and stand, the wound to his side opening further with the movement and he hisses against it as blood begins to drip from his wounds, hot, sticky, fresh. He debates staying to try and pull the deer to the cart, but thinks better of it.
Not like Deimos would trust him in it anyway, regardless of how much Sunjata might have wanted to help. It’s apparent it’s unwanted, unneeded. Fine. He hisses to Deimos, shifting on his paws with another attuned pulse of pain. And then he turns away, limping his way out of the hunt, away from the Woodlands.
