Then he voiced what it was she'd been thinking, and her eyes closed beneath the weight of it. She could feel her heart sinking, something unhappy and dark flopping and growing in the pit of her stomach. He wasn't wrong of course, but that things were complicated didn't change how she felt. It was her head in the way of them, as it always had been.
