When the wind came, Maea first feared it might mean some kind of rejection. That she indeed was greedy, and that she ought to step away, and work on her flaws. But when it did not fade and she felt it pull on her, tug on hair and clothes to follow, she looked up with more focused attention. The doll vanished. She stared at the void where it had disappeared, goosebumps flaring over her arms; this was quite different from any interactions she'd had with Ludo thus far.
"I remeber," Maea replied, and got to her feet. "Can't forget... I try to follow the advice you gave me that day. To remain modest." She gazed ahead, between the two trees that formed the shrine. Her skin prickled, tingled with both excitement and wariness... but she had meant what she said. Freedom and change. It was indeed what she wanted most.
Maea only hesitated for a brief moment. Then she moved forward, walking carefully between candles and lanterns to reach the shrine. Move beyond it... and step into the nothingness.
