Rance wrinkled his nose at the amount of dust in the room, rolling up his sleeves as he took stock. “Did the former residents just up and run?” He muttered under his breath. He skimmed the titles as he made a circuit of the room, leaving the scrolls alone for the moment. While he had no interest in farming in a general sense, his desire for information almost had him picking up the book on the table and opening it out of idle curiosity. If there had been a cleaner spot, he might have done just that.
Instead, he made a face at the mess and went to the windows, shoving at their age-stuck frames. Once they were open, he’d take the still intact books out to the tables in the hallway, followed by the scrolls though those he carried with noticeable care. He might not care about the information inside of them, but he wasn’t going to damage them needlessly. While in the hall, he also grabs a bucket and rags, reasoning that it would be best to work from the top down.
