Gritting his teeth and swallowing hard, wanting to vomit and scream and cry and punch something hard enough to tear the flesh from his knuckles, Remi instead shook his head briskly. Releasing a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding, he tried to find the words to answer Delphia's question but found them utterly lacking.

"Just a lie. I heard the puddles can show anything. Nightmares. Things that aren't real. That's what it was."

Because that's what it had to be.
