perhaps it’s his tone, or the fact that he’s the only one in the immediate area shouting out directions, but the crowd calms, listens to him, for the most part. There’s still some panic, of course there is, as far as anyone can tell the world is ending, but it’s far from a mindless stampede.
In the distance, yet close enough to hear over the rumble and the shouts, there is a familiar voice, barking out the same instructions he was. There was no chance Nate was going to get through the crowd, he wasn’t even going to try, but he did clamber on top of some boxes, off to the side, hoping to get a better of what was going on, both with the fleeing people and the volcano itself.
