All right, that could’ve gone better.Fangorn’s approach and Melita’s were par for the same, ineffectual at best, streamlined for failure almost immediately. The girl reached for her gourd, but he’d already been ensconced in the vines, fangs biting down on his family’s entrapment.
There were several approaches the honeybee child was prone to conducting – bombarding, blasting apart with flames, erupting the whole orchestration into something resembling an inferno. But Amalia had wanted them to try, and even though it wasn’t going great, she’d strive until their leader said otherwise.
It still grated at her though, as she and her companion were surrounded by tiny gourds, pain swindling at her ankles as they nipped. She gripped her staff, and in minute, small movements (not the wake of her strength, the platitude of her capabilities), she attempted to knock them aside and away. Maybe the staff’s hallucinatory properties would assist, keep them at bay for a moment.
