His gaze remains on her, pausing to pull the hood up on his head. His question is met with an answer he really doesn’t want to hear, but he grits his teeth against it anyway, feeling the heaviness of the items within his cloak. “Alright.” He agrees, quietly, jaw clenching as he tears his gaze away from her to try and look toward the pale figure in his vision – though it never quite lands.
He sighs then. “One season.” He reiterates, turning away from her and wondering what the fuck he’d gotten into to have to do this just to hear. He’s not ready yet to let go, but perhaps in time he might be. It was hard to tell, hard to say. And he burns with the frustration of not getting the satisfaction he wanted, to hear what she had to say to him. Instead, he’s stuck to walk by the notice board, to see everyone else’s goodbyes.
Left to wait for his own goodbye. It burns to walk away, but it’s clear he won’t get it. A quiet ’sorry’ mouthed to wherever Maea might be, wherever she might see it. And he gathers his griffin and the items and goes to leave the Greatwood.
