Delphine
"Delphine." Her name felt like a lie. Where had her shoes gone? She stared at her feet, toes pressing into the rough ground, frowning to herself. What had she taken? She'd been unable to find her usual dealer and had sold her body for a hit.
Her gaze found the man, finally, and she studied him, furrowing her brow slightly. It was at this moment, she realized she was bleeding and pressed her left hand to her throat. Drawing her fingers away, she stared at the blood and hummed quietly.
Her hand wandered back to her throat, and slowly she began to heal it. It was not as shallow as it would have been if she hadn't pressed into the blade. The magic still felt strange to her, alien, but she had a basic understanding of her healing ability. Though she still had not realized that she had any other magic.
She had once dreamt of being a healer; she had once become a grand healer. But...
Her thoughts had trailed drastically. She wasn't sure if the man in front of her was talking, or not. She certainly hadn't said anything in a while. And so, in true Delphine fashion, she panicked and blurted out an apology and explanation: "I'm sorry. I... got confused. My brother... well, he died back home and..."
She couldn't say she was hoping he'd come back to life here, because she hated the man.
