It is a hard pressed win, as the cultists fall at last in a wash of phoenix fire, and it is not without losses; blood on the snow, bodies on the ice. And a broken Palace shadowing it all, a sharp ruin against the stark moonlight. The group will hear the screams, the whimpers, the way citizens flee the carnage and try to help in equal measure. The people of Halo are sturdy, though. They will survive.
But will the group who has come to defend the gates?
They will feel it at first as a flutter, a breeze that ebbs up and between their feet. Then a little more, a strong wind perhaps. Then a gale. Then they see her in the Tundra all around, in the skies and the snows. The Eirachi appears reflected in every surface, in every beam of light, in every icicle, in every clouded breath.
"Neron Launceleyn, you have scorned the Deepfrost herself. And now you have paid for your sin." The voice carries, echoing across the Citadel, into every open ear. "But the season will not forget."
And the Eirachi screams, a sound that sends more of the Palace crumbling, that shakes the Citadel to its very bones. It hits the group like a physical blow... and the silence it leaves in its wake is deafening.
